CLEARWATER
G R O U P, I N C.
• BTEX (EPA Method 8020 Modified; detection limits no higher than 0.005
ppm)
• Total threshold limit concentration (TTLC) of lead; AA/ICP Method;
detection limit 1 ppm)
• Soluble threshold limit concentration (STLC) of lead (AA/ICP Method;
detection limit 0.04 ppm). Note that this analysis will be conducted only if
results of the TTLC for lead are greater than 50 ppm.
It may be necessary to sample a small stockpile of soil removed from the
former waste oil tank excavation. One composited soil sample will be
collected and analyzed for the following:
• TPH as gasoline and TPH as diesel fuel (same methods and detection
limits as above)
• • Total oil and grease (SM 5520; detection limit 50 ppm)
• Volatile organic compound (VOCs; EPA Method 8240)
• Semi-volatile compounds (SOCs; EPA Method 8270)
• TTLC Metals (Cd, Cr, Pb, Ni, Zn; AA/ICP Methods)
2.2 Excavation Shoring, Backfilling, and Compaction (Modifications)
Shoring of the excavation and subsequent removal of the documented fine-
grained soil present between the bottom of the excavation and 20-25 feet bgs
will not be considered as an option at this site. Therefore, Clearwater will not
conduct a cost analysis for this phase of work.
The removal of vegetation from the excavation and backfilling and
compaction of the excavation will be conducted as stated in the Workplan.
The ground surface in the immediate vicinity of the excavation will be paved
prior to conducting a soil vapor extraction (SVE) pilot test, but it will not be
paved during this phase of work.
2
D105WPAdd 10/95
