Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201
Site Code #1038
Subject: Michael D. & Sharon Olivarez, 300 S. California St. Stockton, Ca.
1. Analysis of Soil Bore Samples from MW#5 and MW#6
2. Monitoring Well Information and Water Sample Analytical Testing of 5/11/2000
3. Analysis of CPT#3 Installed 6/9/2000 in the Caltrans Right-of-Way
Dear Ms. Oz:
Please find the following engineering reports on the subjects stated above.
Site History
Five fuel USTs and one used motor oil tank were removed by Jim Thorpe Oil in November 1992
under a permit from'the PHS/EHD. Soil samples taken from under the USTs and dispensing
equipment indicated the presence of hydrocarbons. Spoil from the excavation was found to contain
`,. hydrocarbon contamination.
Clearwater Group submitted a Work Pian to install three soil borings with monitoring wells
constructed in the same boring. The work described in the Clearwater Work Plan was completed
in March of 1995.
The excavation for the removal of the USTs was backfilled by Jim Thorpe Oil in April 1996. The
excavation spoil was used for backfill material.
In 1996 Foothill Engineering was requested by the owner to sample the three monitoring wells that
were installed by Clearwater and take over the consultant duties of this property.
On August 23, 1999, the PHS/EHD approved a Work Plan submitted by Foothill Engineering to
-install replacement wells for MW#I, MW#2, and MW#3. These replacement wells were installed
to correct an over-screen condition of the existing monitoring wells. Also, included in this work plan
was the installation of three CPTs. To date CPT#1, CPT#2 and CPT#3 have been installed and the
findings are a part of this report. Soil and groundwater samples extracted during the installation of
CPTs indicate gasoline contamination to a depth of eighty-five feet(recap attached).
On May 2 and 3, 2000 the soil borings for both MW#5 and MW#6 were made as described in the
Work Plan of 3/17/2000.Monitoring wells were installed in both of these soil bores .The Work Plan
of 3/17/2000 also included a soil bore and monitoring well (MW#4)to be installed in the sidewalk
on the north side of Lafayette Street. This soil bore was not completed as planned. An unknown
underground storage tank was encountered in the direct path of the soil bore. As a result of this
1
