(AGE) on behalf of the above referenced site
and has the following comments.
The work plan proposes to begin the investigation of this site with a series of three direct push
soil borings to collect soil and grab groundwater samples for analysis. The proposed depth of
{ the borings is 30-feet below surface grade (bsg) , or until field observations from two consecutive
I five-foot soil samples indicate that the extent of the contamination may have been found . The
exact depth to groundwater at this location is unknown , but based on information from nearby
sites it is not expected to be greater than 40-feet bsg . Should groundwater not be encountered
before 30-feet bsg or the end of the borings , it is the request of PHS/EHD that the boring
located nearest the former location of tank #3 is extended until a groundwater sample can be
collected . Soil and groundwater samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
gas (TPHg) and TPH as diesel by EPA Method 8015 , benzene, toluene , ethylbenzene and
xylene (BTEX) and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) by EPA Method 8020, and all fuel
oxygenates by EPA Method 8260. Please note that the Regional Water Quality Control Board ,
Central Valley Region (CVRWQCB) has requested that all sites test for the lead scavengers
EDB and 1 , 2-DCA by EPA Method 8260 prior to requesting site closure .
Should contaminant impact to groundwater be evidenced during the initial investigation , three
groundwater-monitoring wells will be installed on site. Proposed locations of the monitoring
wells will be based on the analytical results from the initial investigation , and will be presented to
PHS/EHD in a letter/report prior to installation .
The work plan as outlined above is approved . Please proceed with submittal of a well permit
application and required $89. 00 permit fee , and with scheduling the work.
