4633 Soil Characterization Report
Proposed Parking Structure
May 27,2005
Page 3
on this sample due to the results of the STLC. Based on the results of the TCLP (non detectable), the soil
must be removed and/or transported to another facility capable of accepting the levels of lead detected.
Initial laboratory analytical results indicated an elevated lead concentration in composite sample 4633-(1,
2, 3, 4)-4 at 220 mg/Kg. The composite sample was analyzed discretely by the laboratory. Discrete
sample analytical results for sample 4633-(1, 2, 3, 4)-4 indicated a maximum concentration of 34 mg/Kg
lead in sample 4633-3-4. Since the discrete results were inconsistent with the original composite result,
another composite analysis was performed. The second composite analysis was approximately 10 times
less (28 mg/Kg lead) than the original result (220 mg/Kg). The laboratory analytical results for discrete
sample analyses are included in Table 3, below. Copies of laboratory analytical results and chain-of-
custody records for the samples are included in Appendix C.
Table 1 Summary of VOCW5/10/05 <
OCP,PCB,Asbestos, and TPH Anal tical Results
R10,
ethods082 VOCs OCP PCB Asbestos TPH-G,-
(mg) (pig) (µg/kg) PLM(%) D,M,K
Limits ) 0.005 2.0-85 PQL 16 0.25 (mg/kg)
1.0
ple ID
2,3,4)-4 <0.005 <2.0-<85 <16 <0.25 <1.0
4633-(5,6,7,8)-4 <0.005 <2.0-<85 <16 <0.25 <1.0
36(4,4'DDE),
1,12)-4 <0.005 55(4,4'DDT), Arochlor <0.25 <1.0
v 71(Chlordane), 1260:31
2.3(Dieldrin)
633-(13,14,15,16)-4 5/10/05 <0.005 <2.0-<85 <16 <0.25 <1.0
4633-(1,2,3,4)-9
33-(1,2,3,4)-9 5/9/05 <0.005 <2.0-<85 <16 <0.25 <1.0
633-(5,6,7,8)-9 5/9/05 <0.500 <2.0-<85 <16 <0.25 <1.0
Units: Analytical
mg/kg=milligrams per kilogram VOCs=Volatile Organic Compounds(see Appendix C for list of constituents)
=parts per million(ppm).
