.... S E C 0 R
Work Plan for Soil Vapor Survey
August 9, 2007
ARCO Service Station No. 2186
leak check compound. A piece of gauze will be attached to all joints and sampling apparatus of
the Swagelok® type valve and moistened with IPA, taking care not to apply the IPA directly to
the tubing, valves, and fittings. The gauze will be re-moistened with IPA every five minutes.
After approximately one Y2 hour, or when the vacuum pressure of the system reaches 5 in Hg,
the sampling canister valve will be closed and the end time will be recorded. Prior to sampling
subsequent sample locations, the used tubing will be discarded.
The sampling canister(s) and chain of custody will be labeled with the site name, sampling ID,
time and date of sampling, final vacuum pressure, and the canister serial number. The
sampling canister(s) will be shipped to a California certified laboratory for analysis.
Laboratory Analyses Q i P 146 Sj` C
The vapor samples will be submitted under documented chain-of-custody control to a California
State-certified laboratory and analyzed for total .petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g-
with a carbon range of C4 through C20),13TEX, MTBE,di-isopropyl ether(DIPS), ethyl tert butyl
ether (ETRE),- TAME, TBA,- naphthalene, 1,2-Dibromoethane (EDB), IPA, and 1,2-di-
chlororethane (1,2-DCA) using EPA Method TO15.
Once laboratory analysis is complete, SECOR will compare the site results to Regional Water
Quality Control Board (RWQCB) Two Environmental Screening Levels (ESLs). Comparative
analysis of the ESLs and site data will determine if a human health risk assessment (HHRA) of
indoor vapor intrusion is required.
Waste Handling and Disposal
All investigation derived waste (IDW), including soil cuttings and purge water from well
installation and development, will be stored onsite in Department of Transportation-approved
55-gallon drums or roll-off loins pending the results of laboratory analyses. Analytical results will
be used for waste profiling and disposal. After profiling, IDW will be transported and disposed of
at an appropriate State-certified disposal facility.
Surveying
Upon completion of soil vapor probes construction, a licensed surveyor will locate all wells
within the California state plane coordinate system, within 111000 vertical control, and latitude-
longitude (degree, minutes, seconds) to meet the State of California Water Resources Control
Board location requirements.
REPORTING
Upon completion of the work proposed herein, SECOR will prepare a report summarizing field
activities and analytical results of the investigation. The report will be submitted to ARC and the
SJCEHD and will include tabulated field, analytical, appendices containing laboratory reports,
and chain-of-custody documentation, well completion and soil boring logs, copies of field notes
data sheets, conclusions, and recommendations for further work.
2186 SVI 8-O7.doc SECOR International Incorporated
