Soil Vapor Extraction Test Results <br /> ARCO Facility 2186 <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Page 3 <br /> water column ("WC) Distance to each well from the extraction well was also measured <br /> (see Table 1) <br /> Vapor Extraction Tests <br /> Delta conducted three SVE tests on wells VW-1S, VW-2S and, VW-3S for a period of <br /> four (4) hours each, between September 18 and 19, 2000 Tables 2, 3 and 4 summarize <br /> the field observations recorded during the tests <br /> During each test, low vacuum was initially applied to begin vapor extraction and soon <br /> (10-15 minutes) the applied vacuum was maximized to extract maximum allowable flow <br /> rates The maximum applied vacuum was limited due to influent concentration (BTU <br /> content) of the soil vapors, oxygen content of the influent soil vapors, oxygen and BTU <br /> requirements of the thermal oxidizer, and destruction efficiency of the thermal oxidizer <br /> Recirculation rates, and volume of dilution air were used to maintain the vacuum to the <br /> extraction well, in order to observe change in flow rate and induced vacuum in <br /> monitonng wells <br /> . Soil vapors were extracted at an average rate of 10 cfm at an applied vacuum of 100 <br /> "WC on well VW-1 S (see Table 2) Soil vapors were extracted at an average rate of 10 <br /> cfm at an applied vacuum of 80 "WC on well VW-2S (see Table 3) Soil vapors were <br /> extracted at an average rate of 9 cfm at an applied vacuum of 50 "WC on well VW-3S <br /> (see table 4) <br /> Sampling and Analysis <br /> A vacuum pump and iron lung were used to collect soil vapor samples into one-liter <br /> tedlar bags which were forwarded to Sequoia Analytical, a State Certified Laboratory for <br /> chemical analysis with appropriate chain-of-custody documentation Air samples were <br /> analyzed within 72 hours after collection for TPHG by United States Environmental <br /> Protection Agency (USEPA) Method 8015 and BTEX and MTBE by US EPA 8020B <br /> Analytical results with Chain of Custody Documentation are included in Appendix B <br /> Analytical results of samples collected and analyzed during the SVE tests are <br /> summarized in Table 5 <br /> Two influent and one effluent sample were collected during the SVE test on VW-1A and <br /> one influent sample was collected during the SVE tests on VW-2A and VW-3A <br /> RESULTS <br /> The purpose of the test was to estimate a ROI for the existing extraction wells and <br /> evaluate if mass extraction rates justify SVE as a viable remedial alternative Analytical <br /> results of the air samples collected during the test are presented in Table 5 The <br />
