' 24 September 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 96-0232
' Page 4 of 12
' source of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square mile San Joaquin Valley Ground Water Basin
(Basin 5-22). This basin is drained primarily by the San Joaquin River. The nearest surface water
feature in the vicinity of the property is White Slough, located approximately 7,500 feet southwest
' of the site.
' 2.4. GROUND WATER DEPTH AND FLOW DIRECTION
In June 1999, ground water monitoring data collected in the area of wells MW-1, MW-5 and MW-7
indicated a ground water flow direction generally toward the northwest at a gradient of 0.002 ft/ft;
ground water monitoring data collected in the area of wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-4 and MW-6
' suggested a ground water flow direction generally toward the east-northeast at a gradient of 0.002
ft/ft(Quarterly Report-June 1999, dated 13 September 1999).
' Review of historical depth to ground water maps published by the San Joaquin County Flood
Control and Water Conservation District (FCD&WCD) dating back to 1971 suggests that ground
water depth near the site has fluctuated between approximately 5 and 15 feet bsg; review of regional
' ground water elevation maps published by the FCD&WCD suggest a south-southwest ground water
flow direction.
3.0. SCOPE OF WORK
Based upon analytical and field data collected from previous investigation of the former UST area,
the PHS-EHD is requiring a corrective action plan to evaluate feasibility and cost effectiveness of
' several remediation alternatives. AGE proposes to perform a ground water aquifer pump test,
perform a physicochemical and bioenumeration soil sample analysis to facilitate a pilot study.
Furthermore,AGE proposes to install two ground water monitoring wells, perform a soil-gas survey
t and perform a down-hole camera probe from the Rocky's Restaurant (14659 Thornton Road)
domestic drinking water well as part of ongoing assessment activities.
' The scope of work will consist of the following tasks:
1 • Permitting, planning and pre-field work activities;
• Soil probe boring activities;
' • Well installation;
• Pilot study;
' • Down-hole camera probe;
Advanced CeoEmironmental,Inc.
1
