' 24 September 1999
' AGE-NC Project No. 96-0232
findings of the pilot study. The corrective action plan will discuss feasibility and cost effectiveness
of several remedial alternatives. Conclusions and applicable recommendations will be included in
' the corrective action plan. The report will be in a format acceptable to the PHS-EHD and the
RWQCB, and will be reviewed and signed by a California Registered Geologist.
' 4.0. PROCEDURES
1 All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California
Registered Geologist. Procedures for advancement of soil probe boring,we]1 installations, equipment
decontamination, draw-down pilot test and the water well down-hole video-probe are outlined
' below.
4.1. MONITORING WELL DRILLING
' Soil borings will be advanced utilizing a truck-mounted, hollow-stem drill rig and 8-inch diameter
hollow-stem augers. Cuttings generated during drilling activities will be placed on plastic sheeting
and covered. Rinseate will be containerized in properly labeled D.O.T. approved 55-gallon drums,
' and stored on-site in an area lacking public access. Disposal alternatives will be evaluated based on
the results of soil and water analysis.
' 4.1.1. SOIL SAMPLING
' Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals, beginning at a depth of 10 feet bsg, utilizing a
California split-spoon sampler and brass sleeves. The sampler will be driven by dropping a 140-
pound weight from a height of 30 inches (a blow). The blow counts will be recorded on boring logs.
' Upon soil sample retrieval, the middle brass sleeve will be removed from the sampler. The ends of
the brass sleeve will be immediately covered with Teflon or aluminum sheets, sealed with plastic
' end caps, secured with tape and immediately placed in a chilled container for transportation under
chain of custody to a state-certified laboratory. Each sample sleeve will be labeled with the boring
location, sample depth, sample time, sampling date and sampler's initials.
' During sampling activities, sample duplicates will be monitored for the presence of organic vapor
using a photo-ionization detector (PID: Thermo Environmental 580A, 10.0 eV, calibrated to
' isobutylene) and will be visually described on boring logs using the Unified Soil Classification
System (USCS).
' All sampling tools and brass sleeves used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean
Advanced GeoEnvironmcntal,Inc.
