Advanced 1
eoEnvironmental I - --
10 August 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 96-0232
Mr.Mike Infuma
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division
304 East Weber Avenue
Stockton,California 95202
Subject: Collection of Rocky's Restaurant Domestic Drinking Water Well Samples
FLAG CITY CHEVRON
6421 Capital Avenue,Lodi,California
Dear Mr. Infuma:
As per our phone conversation on 10 August 1999,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE)recommends monthly
sampling of the domestic drinking water well located at 14659 Thornton Road(Rocky's Restaurant), Lodi,California,
for analysis of methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE).
The State of California Department of Health Services has adopted a concentration of 13 /,ig/l as an action level for
MTBE in March 1999,and has adopted a concentration of 5 kg/I as a secondary maximum contaminant level(MCL)
in January 1999.
The Rocky's Restaurant domestic drinking water was previously sampled in February,April and June of 1999.MTBE
was detected at concentrations between 7 micrograms per liter(µgQ)and 14µg/l during the three sampling occasions.
MTBE concentrations detected at the Rocky's Restaurant domestic drinking water well exceeds action levels of 13µg/I
and exceeds secondary MCLS of 5/cg/I.Therefore,AGE recommends that a monthly monitoring program be developed
for sampling the domestic drinking water well with respect to MTBE concentrations. Ground water samples will be
lagged on a chain-of-custody form, placed in a chilled container and transported to a California Department of Health
Services(DHS)-certified laboratory for analysis of MTBE by EPA Methods 8260.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at(209)467-1006.
ED Gt '
\G GEND9So rf
Sincerely, rn
No.3637
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc. .
Timothy 'el Nuel C.
