28 January 1998
AGE-NC Project No. 96-0232
4.2. WELL COMPLETION
The following procedures will be performed for completion, survey and development of each ground
water monitoring well:
1. Each soil boring will be dual completed as ground water monitoring wells by utilizing 2-inch
diameter, schedule 40, blank PVC casing and 2-inch diameter screened casing (0.020-inch
slot). A shallow and deep interval filter pack will be installed using# 3 sand from bottom of
screened depth to two feet above, and a minimum 3 foot bentonite annular seal will be placed
on top of filter pack. Each well will then be backfilled to the surface with Portland cement
utilizing a tremie method. The proposed monitoring well design is depicted in Figure 3, but
may be modified based upon field observations and site conditions.
2. Survey the top of each well casing by a licensed surveying engineer to determine the
elevation relative to a surveyed benchmark.
3. Using a submersible pump, surge and purge new monitoring wells until ground water appears
to be sediment free. At least three well volumes of water will be removed from each well
to stabilize temperature,pH, and conductivity. Ground water samples will be collected using
disposable bailers; samples will be transferred to 40-m1 VOA vials.
4. Store the samples in a chilled container and transport under chain-of-custody procedure to
a State-certified laboratory for analysis. Ground water samples will be analyzed for MTBE
in accordance with the appropriate EPA methods.
5. Store purged water in 55-gallon DOT drums on-site pending analytical results.
4.3. REPORTING
A report detailing the results of the work will be prepared. The report will be in a format acceptable
to the PHS-EHD and Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board. The report will be
reviewed and signed by a California Registered Geologist.
Advanced GeoEnvironmenta 1,Inc.
