ay hl <br /> 28 January 2005 <br /> AGE-NC Protect No 96-0232 <br /> Page 2 of 8 <br /> 21 SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION <br /> Discrete soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals beginning at 15 feet bsg utilizing a California <br /> modified split-spoon sampler loaded with 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves The sampler was driven <br /> by dropping a 140-pound weight from a height of 30 inches The number of blows required to drive <br /> each 6-inch length of the sampler (blow counts) was recorded on boring logs by an AGE staff <br /> geologist <br /> Soil samples were preserved by covering both ends of the second brass sleeve with Teflon sheets, <br /> then capping and sealing with tape Each preserved sample sleeve was labeled with soil boring <br /> location, depth, time, date and sampler's initials <br /> 22 LABORATORY ANALYSES OF SOIL SAMPLES <br /> Each preserved soil sample was logged on a chain-of-custody form,placed in a chilled container and <br /> transported to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a California Department of Health <br /> Services (DHS)-certified laboratory in Paramount, California for analysis in accordance with <br /> • EPA Method 8015M for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline, diesel and <br /> motor oil (TPH-g, TPH-d and TPH-mo, respectively), <br /> • EPA Method 8260 for volatile aromatic compounds benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and <br /> xylene (BTEX), and <br /> • EPA Method 8260 for volatile organic compounds 1,2-dichloroethane(1,2-DCA),ethylene <br /> dibromide (EDB), tertiary butanol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tert butyl ether <br /> (ETBE), tert amyl methyl ether(TAME), and methyl tert-butyl ether(MTBE) <br /> • EPA Methods 6010B/7471/7196A for Title 22 metals antimony,arsenic,barium,beryllium, <br /> cadmium,total chromium,chromium VI,cobalt,copper,lead,mercury,molybdenum,nickel, <br /> selenium, silver, thallium, vanadium and zinc, and <br /> • EPA Methods 300, 4950, 6010 and 9010 for general mineral constituents iron, cyanide, <br /> sulfate, nitrate, nitrite and pH <br /> The results of the soil analyses are contained in Tables 1, 2 and 3 <br /> 23 SOIL BORING LOGS <br /> Soil in the remaining sleeves were monitored for the presence of organic vapor using an organic <br /> Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc <br />
