7 4 RECEIVING WATER MONITORING
In accordance with requirements of Attachment B's Monitoring and Reporting Program to General
' Order No 5-00-119,monthly monitoring of pump and treat receiving water(R-i and R-2) estimated
flow rate, specific conductivity (EC), pH and turbidity was performed on 06 December 2000,
observations were noted in a log book (Appendix H) for floating or suspended matter, discoloration,
' bottom deposits, aquatic life, visible film-sheen-coatings, fungi and potential nuisance conditions
The sampling location R-1 is located approximately 50 feet upstream of the point of discharge and
R-2 is located approximately 80 feet downstream (Figure 13), R-1 and R-2 locations were approved
' by the RWQCB during a site inspection on 22 November 2000 Currently, there is no upstream flow
in the ditch and therefore, monitoring could not be performed at R-1 Receiving water quarterly
sampling for total dissolved solids was performed at R-2 on 06 December 2000
1
Because there is no upstream flow at R-1 and the area is dry, downstream flow at R-2 appears to be
' equal to the ground water pump and treat effluent flow rate of 23 GPM Observations were logged
in a notebook and indicated that there was no floating or suspended matter, discoloration, bottom
deposits, aquatic life or visible film-sheen-coatings, however there was a small amount of algae
growth at the bottom of the ditch Potential nuisance conditions observed included trash in ditch(i e
10 fast food containers, tire, paper and dry bush cuttings)
' Analysis of a grab water sample collected from R-2 on 06 December 2000 detected dissolved oxygen
at a concentration of 7 9 mg/l, EC at 1,180µmhos/cin, pH at 7 4, TDS at 710 mg/L and turbidity at
0 1 NTUs Analytical results of are summarized in Table 4, laboratory reports are in Appendix F
8.0. QUARTERLY GROUND WATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING EVENT
' On 13 and 14 December 2000, ground water monitoring and sampling were performed at 30 ground
water monitoring wells (MW-1, MW-2, MW-4, MW-5, MW-6A, MW-6B, MW-7, MW-8A,
' MW-8B, MW-8C, MW-9A, MW-913, MW-9C, MW-10A, MW-10B, MW-10C, MW-101),
MW-10E, MW-11A, MW-IIB, MW-11C, MW-11D, MW-12A, MW-12B, MW-12C, MW12D,
MW-13A, MW-13B, MW-13C and MW-13D), ground water samples were collected from 8
' extraction wells (EW-2, EW-4, EW-5, EW-6, EW-7, EW-8, EW-9 and EW-10, ground water
samples were collected from two domestic drinking water wells located at 14659 Thornton Road
(Rocky's Restaurant) and at 14749 Thornton Road(Three B's Truck Plaza), ground water samples
' were also collected from two municipal ground water wells located approximately 700 feet southeast
(CSA-2) and 1,700 feet southeast (CSA-1) of the Flag City Chevron Ground water monitonng
' procedures for the site were outlined in the Work Plan Addendum dated 28 January 1998 and
approved by the PHS-EHD by letter dated 24 February 1998
