I15 January 2001
`S AGE-NC Project No 96-0232
On 13 October 2000, ground water extraction wells EW-4, EW-5, EW-6, EW-7 and EW-8 were
developed utilizing a stainless steel hand bailer, EW-9 and EW-10 were developed on 18 October
2000 Approximately 150 to 200 gallons of ground water were purged from each well or until ground
I water produced was visually sediment free Purged ground water was placed in properly labeled
DOT-approved model 17H 55-gallon drums and was stored in a northeast section at the site In an
area lacking public access Field logs for extraction well development activities are included In
Appendix D
I4.0. INSTALLATION OF GROUND WATER EXTRACTION PUMPS
I On 26, 27, 30 and 31 October 2000, Clark Well, Inc of Stockton, California installed 4-inch
diameter, stainless steel model 5510 Grundfos Rediflow down-well pumps equipped with 230 volt
Franklin 1-horsepower 3-wire motors In ground water extraction wells EW-2, EW-4, EW-5, EW-6,
EW-7, EW-8, EW-9 and EW-10 Each Grundfos pump was internally equipped with a one-way
check valve to prevent back-flow The Grundfos pumps were installed in each well at a depth of
approximately 31 feet below surface grade (bsg) Schedule 80, 1-inch diameter poly vinyl chloride
I (PVC)piping was routed from the pump to the top of the well casing and through a 4-inch diameter
sanitary well seal At surface grade, a brass flow valve and liquid-filled pressure gauge were installed
at the outlet of the well head to control and monitor the extraction flow rate A copper sampling port
I was installed upstream of the brass flow valve to allow sampling of each well independently without
having to remove the well head assembly A generalized diagram of the pump and well design is
presented in Figures 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10
I
5.0. INSTALLATION OF GROUND WATER PUMP AND TREAT SYSTEM
Between 18 October and 10 November 2000, AGE installed an on-site ground water pump and treat
system, ground water pump and treat installation procedures for the site were outlined in Final
I Remediaion Plan, dated 31 August 2000, prepared by AGE and approved by the RWQCB by letter
dated 05 October 2000
5 1 TRENCH SYSTEM INSTALLATION
IOn 18, 19 and 20 October 2000, preparation of an on-site ground water extraction pipe-line
commenced by saw-cutting a trench-line measuring approximately 18 inches wide, 8 inches thick
and 250 feet long of concrete block Concrete cuttings were transported to F T G Construction
Materials Inc , a concrete recycling facility located in Stockton CA
I
i
Advanced GeoEnviroamental,Inc
I
