t <br /> h <br /> 31 January 2003 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 96-0232 <br /> Page 6 of 17 <br /> Observations logged In a notebook during the 21 November and 05 December 2002 monitoring <br />' events indicate that there was no floating or suspended matter, discoloration, bottom deposits or <br /> visible film-sheen-coatings at R-2,however there was a small amount of algae growth at the bottom <br />' of the ditch Visible aquatic life at R-2 included minnows, insects and frogs Potential nuisance , <br /> conditions observed at R-2 Included trash in ditch(i a fast,food containers,tire,paper and dry bush <br /> cuttings), no potential nuisance conditions were observed at R-1 <br />' Utilizing an ICM water analyzer and a YSI-50 dissolved oxygen meter in the field,dissolved oxygen <br /> was monitored at R-2 during the 21 November and 05 December monitoring events at concentrations <br /> of 5 00 mg/l and 5 09 mg/l,'respectively, EC values were recorded on the same days at 1,058 <br /> µmhos/cm and 944µmhos/cm,respectively,pH values were recorded at 7 48 and 7 38,respectively, <br /> temperatures were measured at 20 4 °C and 20 2 °C, respectively <br />' Laboratory analysis of R-2 grab water samples collected during the above monthly monitoring events <br /> reported turbidity values at concentrations of 0 2 and 0 2 nephelometric turbidity units (NTUs), a <br /> TDS value of 586 mg/1 was reported on 05 December 2002 Analytical results are summarized in <br /> Table 2, field measurements and laboratory reports are in Appendix C <br /> 2 7 MASS-VOLUME REMOVAL CALCULATIONS <br /> Based on effluent flow meter observations (Appendix A, Table 8), a-grand total of approximately <br /> 1,169,835 gallons of MTBE-impacted water were treated during the fourth quarter 2002, a total <br /> I volume of approximately 16,627,886 gallons of MTBE-impacted water has been treated at the site <br /> since the start-up period In November 2000 , <br /> The volume of extracted water betweeri 05 September and 21 November 2002 was equal to 895,905 ` <br /> gallons, which equates to a mass of 7,469,160 pounds of processed water Multiplying the average <br /> MTBE concentration (assumed to be 11 µg/1 based on the average of the 05 September and the 21 <br />' November 2002 influent grab water samples) by the pounds of extracted MTBE-impacted ground <br /> water yields approximately 0 08 pounds of MTBE removed from MTBE-impacted ground water <br /> during this period (Appendix D) - <br /> The volume of extracted water between 21 November and 05 December 2002 was equal to 273,930 <br /> gallons, which equates,to a mass of 2,283,754 pounds of processed water Multiplying the average <br /> MTBE concentration (assumed to be 17 µg/1 based on the average of the 21 November and the 05 <br /> December 2002 influent grab water samples) by the pounds of extracted MTBE-impacted ground <br /> water yields approximately 0 04 pounds of MTBE removed from MTBE-Impacted ground water <br />' during this period (Appendix D) <br /> During the fourth quarter 2002, an estimated 0 12 pounds of MTBE was extracted from ground <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
