' 31 January 2003
A'GE-NC Project No 96-0232
Laboratory analysis of pump-and-treat effluent grab water samples collected on 21 November and
' on 05 December 2002 did not detect any petroleum constituents of concern, nitrate as NO3 was
detected at concentrations of 40 mg/1 and 40 mg/l, respectively, TDS values were reported at 577
r mg/1 and 570 mg/l, respectively Analytical results are summarized In Tables I and 2, laboratory
reports are in Appendices B and C
I A bloassay laboratory analysis was performed on the grab sample collected from the effluent stream
on 03 December 2002 The analysis utilized sample factors of 0 milliliter (ml), 125 ml, 500 ml,
1,000 ml, 1,500 ml and 2,000 ml Each sample factor was tested with 20 Fathead minnow fish and
a dilution volume of 2,000 ml of di-ionized water, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO) and temperature
parameters were monitored and fish mortalities were counted over 96 hours The results of the
bioassay analysis did not indicate any trends for pH, DO or temperature over, the 96 hour period
Temperature measurements generally vaned between 19 4 and 20 4 degrees Celsius (°C), pH
measurements vaned between 7 20 and 7 50 and DO measurements vaned between 6 10 mg/1 and
8 40 mg/1 The laboratory reported that there were zero fish mortalities after 96 hours in the above
referenced sample, laboratory analysis of a duplicate effluent sample reported zero fish mortalities
after 96 hours The bioassay analysis Is summarized in Table 3, laboratory reports are in
Appendix C ,
• Utilizing an ICM water analyzer in the field, EC values were monitored on 21 November and on
05 December 2002 at 1,042 µmhos/cm and 939 µmhos/cm,respectively,pH values were monitored
at 7 64 and 7 34, respectively, and temperature values at 214 °C and 21 0 °C, respectively Field
monitoring results are summarized In Table 2
Utilizing a Blue-White Industries F-2000 flow meter, flow rates were measured and recorded on
21 November and on 05 December 2002 at 24 77 GPM and 23 78 GPM (Appendix A)
2 6 RECEIVING WATER MONITORING RESULTS
In accordance with the requirements of RWQCB Monitoring and Reporting Program No 5-00-119,
monthly ground water pump-and-treat receiving water(R-1 and R-2)monitoring was performed for
total dissolved solids, flow rate, specific conductivity (EC), pH and turbidity Observations noted
In a log book(Appendix A) included floating or suspended matter, discoloration, bottom deposits,
aquatic life, visible film-sheen-coatings, fungi and potential nuisance conditions
Water monitoring could not be performed from R-1 during the 21 November and 05 December 2002
monthly monitoring events because there was no upstream water flow Because there was no
Iupstream flow at R-1, the downstream flow rate at R-2 appeared to be equal to the ground water
pump and treat effluent flow rate of approximately 24 77 GPM and 23 78 GPM,,respectively
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
