i
15 October 2003
AGE-NC Project No 96-0232
2.0. SCOPE OF WORK
AGE proposes to drill and sample five additional Geoprobe soil borings on- and off-site to better
assess MTBE-impacted ground water in the area of monitoring well MW-8
The investigation will consist of the following tasks
• Permitting and pre-field work activities,
• Soil/grab ground water sample collection and analysis,
• Report preparation
Each of these tasks are discussed below in detail
2 1 PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
• Applicable drilling pernuts will be submitted to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department(SJCEHD),an encroachment permit will be submitted to the San Joaquin County Public
Works Department for the soil boring located on Banner Avenue As required by SJCEHD
permitting, a health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and
Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational
Safety and Health Administration, U S Coast Guard and U S Environmental Protection Agency,
1985) Prior to drilling activities, each proposed drilling location will be clearly marked and a utility
clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert
22 SOIL/GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Based on MTBE-impacted ground water encountered at monitoring well MW-8A, AGE proposes
advancement of additional soil probe borings in the following locations
Soil boring P-39 will be located approximately 15 to 25 feet north-northwest of monitoring
well MW-4, P-39 is located to assess MTBE-impact to First and Second Water Zone that
may have migrated from the Flag City Chevron UST tank pit
• Soil boring P-40 will be located approximately 45 to 55 feet northwest of monitoring well
MW-4,P-40 is located to assess any potential MTBE-impact to First and Second Water Zone
that may be migrating from the northwest
• Soil boring P-41 will be located less than 5 feet east of monitoring well MW-8, P-41 is
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
