t i i <br /> 07 December 2001 <br /> AGE Project No 96-0232 <br /> Page 9 of 9 <br /> 6 2 3 Off-Site Ground Water Extraction Monitoring Activities <br /> The pump and treat system will be monitored weekly to ensure optimum removal of dissolved <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons The ground water influent and effluent flow readings will be recorded <br /> before the GAC phase and after the Sun Solve filter-media phase Grab water samples will be <br /> collected on a bi-weekly basis from the influent and effluent end of the pump and treat system The <br /> samples will be collected in and transported to a DTSC-certified laboratory in a chilled container <br /> under ice under chain-of-custody procedure <br /> 6 3 PROGRESS AND CONFIRMATION SAMPLING <br /> After a significant decrease of efficiency is noted or when clean-up goals have been met ground <br /> water samples will be collected from the off-site target remediation area Analytical results of the <br /> ground water samples will serve to assess remaining off-site petroleum MTBE levels and determine <br /> if continuing off-site remedial operation is necessary <br /> Samples will be collected utilizing direct push technology AGE proposes to advance soil probe <br /> borings in the "core" petroleum hydrocarbon impacted area at the site to depths of approximately <br /> 50 feet bsg Probe boring will be advanced using a Geoprobe 5400 soil probing unit <br /> 7.0. EQUIPMENT AND OPERATIONAL SAFETY <br /> The proposed pump and treat system will be equipped with an automatic shut-down valve to prevent <br /> spillage and overflow from the treatment system This remediation action will be supervised by <br /> geologists/engineers trained to perform and supervise investigations and remedial actions at <br /> hazardous waste sites as specified in the OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency <br /> Response Standard (29 CFR 1910 120 (e)) <br /> The treatment system will be surrounded by a lockable enclosure to protect the system from <br /> tampering by unauthorized personnel A non-smoking area with a 20-foot radius will be established <br /> and posted A Site Health and Safety Plan in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health <br /> Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities will be kept in the gated enclosure <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
