i <br /> 1 +9 <br /> • 07 December 2001 <br /> AGE Project No 96-0232 <br /> Page 5 of 9 <br /> 52 INSTALLATION OF OFF-SITE REMEDIATION WELLS <br /> An off-site ground water extraction system to operate concurrently with on-site treatment is proposed <br /> to reduce the volume and concentrations of MTBE-impacted ground water off-site In order to <br /> maximize the efficiency of the clean-up efforts,a 24-hour operation of the on-site and off-site ground <br /> water extraction and treatment system is anticipated <br /> Three additional off-site ground water extraction wells will be installed to augment the current <br /> remediation efforts The proposed ground water extraction well locations are illustrated in Figure 3 <br /> Based on an estimated radius of influence of 25 feet for each extraction well in the First Water Zone <br /> (Final Remediation Plan, dated 31 August 2000), AGE proposes installation of ground water <br /> extraction wells in the following locations <br /> • Approximately 10 to 20 feet east-northeast of Rocky's Restaurant domestic water well, <br /> • Approximately 5 to 15 feet south-southwest of Rocky's Restaurant domestic water well, and <br /> • Approximately 10 to 20 feet west of well Flag City Chevron monitoring well MW-7 <br /> • <br /> 5 3 INSTALLATION OF OFF-SITE REMEDIATION SYSTEM PIPING SYSTEM <br /> Two-inch diameter, schedule 80 PVC piping (process piping) will be installed in trenches <br /> approximately 1%z-foot bsg deep and i-foot wide and routed from each off-site ground water <br /> extraction well head to the Flag City Chevron ground water treatment system, one-inch diameter <br /> electrical conduit will be installed in the same trench and routed from each well head to an electrical <br /> fuse box located at the Flag City Chevron ground water treatment system Individual sample ports <br /> with check valves to prevent back-flow cross contamination will be installed at each of the three <br /> ground extraction well process piping risers These ports allow sampling of each well independently <br /> without having to remove the well head assembly Following piping placement the trenches will be <br /> backfilled with imported road-base sand, compacted and covered with asphalt A cut view drawing <br /> of the process piping layout is included in Figure 6, a plan view drawing of the piping network is <br /> depicted in Figure 2 <br /> 54 WELL PUMPS, INSTALLATION AND PROCESS PIPING <br /> Grundfos Rediflow down-well pumps, type 5E5, equipped with Franklin 1/3 hp, 230V, 3-wire <br /> motors will be installed in the three newly installed ground water extraction wells One-inch <br /> idiameter Schedule 40 PVC pipe will be installed from the pump discharge to the well-head surface <br /> Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
