1
1 15 October 2001
AGE-NC Project No 96-0232
' 30 September 2001, field observations of effluent-flow rates were generally recorded between 19 33
GPM and 23 74 GPM (Appendix A)
2 6 RECEIVING WATER MONITORING
In accordance with the requirements of RWQCB Monitoring and Reporting Program No 5-00-119,
monthly ground water pump-and-treat receiving water(R-1 and R-2)monitoring was performed for
total dissolved solids, flow rate, specific conductivity(EC),pH and turbidity on 02 July, 01 August
' and 09 September 2001, observations were noted in a log book (Appendix A) for floating or
suspended matter, discoloration, bottom deposits, aquatic life, visible film-sheen-coatings, fungi and
' potential nuisance conditions
On 02 July and 06 September 2001, based on calculations in the field, water flow at R-1 was
estimated at 40 GPM and water flow at R-2 was estimated at 50 GPM Water monitoring could not
be performed from R-1 during the 01 August 2001 monthly monitoring event because there was no
upstream water flow Because there was no upstream flow at R-1 and the area was dry, the
downstream flow rate at R-2 appeared to be equal to the ground water pump and treat effluent flow
rate of approximately 23 GPM Observations logged in a notebook indicate that there was no floating
or suspended matter, discoloration, bottom deposits, aquatic life or visible film-sheen-coatings,
however there was a small amount of algae growth at the bottom of the ditch Potential nuisance
conditions observed included trash in ditch (I a fast food containers, tire, paper and dry bush
cuttings)
Utilizing an ICM water analyzer and a YSI-50 dissolved oxygen meter in the field, dissolved oxygen
was monitored at R-1 on 02 July and 06 September 2001 at concentrations of 6 91 mg/1 and 8 32
mg/l, respectively, EC values on the same days were at 960 µmhos/cm and 587 umhos/cm,
respectively, pH values were detected on the same days at 7 08 and 7 51, respectively, temperatures
were observed on the same days at 26 3 °C and 21 1 °C
Utilizing an ICM water analyzer and a YSI-50 dissolved oxygen meter in the field, dissolved oxygen
was monitored at R-2 on 02 July, 01 August and 06 September 2001 at concentrations of 5 92 mg/l,
' 4 70 mg/1 and 7 00 mg/l, respectively, EC values on the same days were at 1582 ,umbos/cm, 1115
µmhos/cm and 216,umhos/cm,respectively, pH values were detected on the same days at 6 89, 7 09
and 7 44, respectively, temperatures were measured on the same days at 26 0 °C, 22 4 °C
and 20 9 'C
Laboratory analysis of R-1 grab water samples collected on 02 July and 06 September 2001 reported
turbidity values at 32 NTUs and 2 2 NTUs, laboratory analysis of R-1 reported TDS values of
70 mg/1 and 60 mg/l,respectively Analytical results for the receiving water samples are summarized
Advanced GcoEnv:ronmental,Inc
I
