09 May 2002
AGE-NC Project No 96-0232
Page 6of8
Laboratory reports for soil/ground water analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality
assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be
presented in a report with findings and recommendations
3 2 WELL COMPLETION
The ground water momtormg/extraction wells will be completed utilizing a single 2-mch diameter
schedule 40 polyvinylchlonde(PVC)well casing with 0 030-Inch slotted well screen, proposed First
Zone, Second Zone and Rocky's Upper Zone well construction diagrams are depicted in Figures 5,
6 and 7, respectively
The ozone sparge well will be completed utilizing three manufacturer-assembled 2-Inch by 24-Inch
microporous sparge points with 2-mch diameter schedule 40 PVC well casings that will be Installed
Into the common boring A proposed well construction diagram Is depicted in Figure 8
After Installing the well casing in each boring, a filter pack material will be slowly emplaced through
the augers over the screen interval to approximately two feet above the screened intervals, filter pack
material in the ground water monitoring/extraction wells and the ozone sparge well will consist of
No 3 Lapis Luster Monterey sand Following placement of the filter pack, the screened interval from
each well will be surged for approximately 20 minutes utilizing a surge block to assist In settling the
filter pack Additional filter pack material will be added if settling occurs
A nominal three-foot bentonite seal (bentonite pellets) will be placed above the filter pack to
minimize the potential for grout penetration into the screened section of the well The bentonite seal
will be formed by pouring bentomte pellets Into the annulus and allowing the pellets to settle on the
filter pack The bentonite pellets will be allowed to hydrate with tap water for a minimum of one-half
hour prior to grouting
The remaining annular space will be filled to the ground surface with a cement grout The grout
mixture will consist of Type IM portland neat cement and not more than 6 gallons of water per
94-pound sack of cement The grout will be placed by pumping through tremmie pipe A grouting
inspection will be scheduled with SJCEHD personnel
33 WELL DEVELOPMENT
Development of the proposed wells will consist of a combination of balling with a two-Inch diameter
stainless steel and/or PVC bailers to remove the major portion of fine-grained sediment from inside
the well, surging to flush out or draw in sediment from the filter pack and additional ground water
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
