09 May 2002 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 96-0232 <br /> Page 6of8 <br /> Laboratory reports for soil/ground water analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality <br /> assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be <br /> presented in a report with findings and recommendations <br /> 3 2 WELL COMPLETION <br /> The ground water momtormg/extraction wells will be completed utilizing a single 2-mch diameter <br /> schedule 40 polyvinylchlonde(PVC)well casing with 0 030-Inch slotted well screen, proposed First <br /> Zone, Second Zone and Rocky's Upper Zone well construction diagrams are depicted in Figures 5, <br /> 6 and 7, respectively <br /> The ozone sparge well will be completed utilizing three manufacturer-assembled 2-Inch by 24-Inch <br /> microporous sparge points with 2-mch diameter schedule 40 PVC well casings that will be Installed <br /> Into the common boring A proposed well construction diagram Is depicted in Figure 8 <br /> After Installing the well casing in each boring, a filter pack material will be slowly emplaced through <br /> the augers over the screen interval to approximately two feet above the screened intervals, filter pack <br /> material in the ground water monitoring/extraction wells and the ozone sparge well will consist of <br /> No 3 Lapis Luster Monterey sand Following placement of the filter pack,the screened interval from <br /> each well will be surged for approximately 20 minutes utilizing a surge block to assist In settling the <br /> filter pack Additional filter pack material will be added if settling occurs <br /> A nominal three-foot bentonite seal (bentonite pellets) will be placed above the filter pack to <br /> minimize the potential for grout penetration into the screened section of the well The bentonite seal <br /> will be formed by pouring bentomte pellets Into the annulus and allowing the pellets to settle on the <br /> filter pack The bentonite pellets will be allowed to hydrate with tap water for a minimum of one-half <br /> hour prior to grouting <br /> The remaining annular space will be filled to the ground surface with a cement grout The grout <br /> mixture will consist of Type IM portland neat cement and not more than 6 gallons of water per <br /> 94-pound sack of cement The grout will be placed by pumping through tremmie pipe A grouting <br /> inspection will be scheduled with SJCEHD personnel <br /> 33 WELL DEVELOPMENT <br /> Development of the proposed wells will consist of a combination of balling with a two-Inch diameter <br /> stainless steel and/or PVC bailers to remove the major portion of fine-grained sediment from inside <br /> the well, surging to flush out or draw in sediment from the filter pack and additional ground water <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
