Influent water samples collected on the above dates detected MTBE (by EPA Method 8260) at
concentrations of 41 pg/l, 29 pg/l and 12 µg/1, respectively (Table 1) The laboratory analysis did
not detect any other constituents of concern Analytical results of pump-and-treat Influent-water
samples are summarized in Table 1, laboratory reports are in Appendix C
35 EFFLUENT MONITORING RESULTS
In accordance with the requirements ofRWQCB Monitoring and Reporting Program No 5-00-119,
monthly ground water pump-and-treat effluent monitoring was performed for flow rate, specific
conductivity(EC), pH,temperature, total dissolved solids(TDS),TPH-g, TPH-d, TPH-mo, BTEX,
MTBE,methanol, ethanol, DIPE, TAME,ETBE, TBA and nitrate on 03 January, 04 February and
27 March 2002, additionally, total lead was analyzed for the March 2002 sampling event and ground
water pump-and-treat effluent quarterly sampling for bioassay analysis was performed on 31 March
2002
Laboratory analysis of pump-and-treat effluent grab water samples collected on 03 January, 04
February and 27 March 2002 did not detect any petroleum constituents of concern(Table 1), nitrate
. as NO3 was detected at concentrations of 49 milligrams per liter (mg/1), 44 mg/1 and 52 mg/l,
respectively, TDS values were reported at 630 mg/l,630 mg/1 and 800 mg/l,respectively Analytical
results are summarized in Tables 1 and 2, laboratory reports are in Appendices C and D
A bioassay laboratory analysis was performed on the grab sample collected from the effluent stream
on 31 March 2001 The analysis utilized sample factors of 0 milliliter(ml), 125 ml, 500 ml, 1,000
ml, 1,500 ml and 2,000 ml Each sample factor was tested with 20 Fathead minnow fish and a
dilution volume of 2,000 ml of di-ionized water, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO) and temperature
parameters were monitored and fish mortalities were counted over 96 hours The bioassay analysis
generally reported a steady decrease in pH and DO in each sample factor over the 96 hour period,
the analysis reported increasing pH and DO values with increasing sample factors Temperature
measurements varied between 20 0 and 20 7 degrees Celsius(°C) The laboratory reported that there
were no fish mortalities after 96 hours In the above referenced sample, laboratory analysis of a
duplicate sample reported one fish mortality after 96 hours The bioassay analysis is summarized in
Table 3, laboratory reports are in Appendix D
Utilizing an ICM water analyzer in the field,EC values were monitored on 03 January, 04 February
and 27 March 2002 at 1,178 µmhos/cm,921 µmhos/cm and 716 µmhos/cm,respectively,pH values
were monitored at 7 06, 7 12 and 7 73,respectively, and temperature values at 19 0°C, 20 3 °C and
21 7 °C, respectively Field monitoring results are summarized in Table 2
