• 09 May 2002
AGE-NC Project No 96-0232
Utilizing a Blue-White Industries F-2000 flow meter, flow rates were measured and recorded on 03
January, 04 February and 27 March 2002 at 24 42 GPM, 24 14 GPM and 24 20 GPM, between 01
January and 31 March 2002, field observations of effluent-flow rates were generally recorded
between 24 14 GPM and 24 58 GPM (Appendix B)
3 6 RECEIVING WATER MONITORING RESULTS
In accordance with the requirements of RWQCB Monitoring and Reporting Program No 5-00-119,
monthly ground water pump-and-treat receiving water(R-1 and R-2)monitoring was performed for
total dissolved solids, flow rate, specific conductivity (EC), pH and turbidity on 03 January, 04
February and 27 March 2002, observations noted in a log book (Appendix B) Included floating or
suspended matter,discoloration,bottom deposits,aquatic life,visible film-sheen-coatings,fungi and
potential nuisance conditions
Water monitoring could not be performed from R-1 during the above monthly monitoring events
because there was no upstream water flow Because there was no upstream flow at R-1 and the
upstream area was dry, the downstream flow rate at R-2 appeared to be equal to the ground water
pump and treat effluent flow rate of approximately 24 5 GPM Observations logged in a notebook
indicate that there was no floating or suspended matter, discoloration, bottom deposits or visible
film-sheen-coatings, however there was a small amount of algae growth at the bottom of the ditch
Visible aquatic life at R-2 included minnows, crayfish, snails, insects and frogs Potential nuisance
conditions observed included trash in ditch (i e fast food containers, tire, paper and dry bush
cuttings)
Utilizing an ICM water analyzer and a YSI-50 dissolved oxygen meter in the field, dissolved oxygen
was monitored at R-2 on the above monitoring events at concentrations of 4 50 mg/l, 5 3 8 mg/l and
5 24 mg/l, respectively, EC values on the same days were recorded at 1,030 µmhos/cm, 920
µmhos/cm and 711 µmhos/cm, respectively, pH values were recorded at 7 17, 7 12 and 7 59,
respectively, temperatures were measured 19 0 °C, 20 3 °C and 21 7 °C
Laboratory analysis of R-2 grab water samples collected during the above monthly monitoring events
reported turbidity values at 9 3 nephelometric turbidity units (NTUs), 2 7 NTUs and 5 9 NTUs,
laboratory analysis of R-2 reported TDS values of 630 mg/l, 630 mg/l and 760 mg/l, respectively
Analytical results are summarized in Table 2, field measurements and laboratory reports are in
Appendix B and Appendix D, respectively
•
Advanced CcoEnvironmental,Inc
