ADVANCEMENT OF GEOPROBE SOIL BORING P18 THROUGH P35 <br /> On 08, 09 May 2000, AGE advanced soil boring P 18 through P29 to assess MTBE-Impact to soil <br /> and ground water in the area of the storm drain system and UST system Soil probe boring locations <br /> are presented in Figure 4 Approximate extent of shallow TPH-d,TPH-g, and MTBE from Geoprobe <br /> grab ground water samples are presented in Figures 23, 24, and 25 Boring logs are presented in <br /> Appendix C <br /> On 19 May 2000, AGE advanced soil probe bonngs P30, P31, P32, P34, and P35 to assess <br /> MTBE-impact to soil and ground water in the area of the dispenser island system <br /> 8 1 FIELD PROCEDURES <br /> All field procedures were overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of a California <br /> Registered Geologist Procedures for the advancement of soil probe bonngs, soil sampling, ground <br /> water sampling, equipment decontamination,boring abandonment,and sample shipment are outlined <br /> below <br /> 8 2 PROBE BORING ADVANCEMENT <br /> Probe borings were advanced using a van-mounted Geoprobe 5400 direct-push probing unit <br /> equipped with 125-inch probing rods The Geoprobe advances soil probe borings using a hydraulic <br /> hammer to drive soil and ground water sampling tools to specified depths <br /> 8 3 SOIL SAMPLING PROCEDURES <br /> Soil samples were collected using Geoprobe push-dnven 2-Inch diameter discrete soil samplers fitted <br /> with four six-Inch long brass sleeves Upon removal from the sampler, the leading sample sleeve was <br /> separated with a clean knife The exposed ends of the sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets, <br /> capped and sealed with tape Soil samples encountered in the borings were visually classified by an <br /> AGE geologist in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) Additionally, soil <br /> samples were field screened for the presence of volatile organic compounds using an organic vapor <br /> meter (OVM) equipped with a photo-ionization detector (PID Thermo Environmental 580A, <br /> 10 OeV, calibrated to isobutylene) Boring logs are presented in Appendix C <br /> Following sample collection, each preserved sample sleeve was labeled with the boring location, <br /> depth, time, date and sampler's initials Appropnately sealed and labeled samples were placed under <br /> Advanced GcoEnNtronmenlal,Inc <br />
