19 July 2000
AGE-NC Project No 96-0232
- Dissolved MTBE was detected from three samples in P16 at concentrations as high as 280
µg/1, ethanol detected at concentrations as high as 8 6 µg/1 and TBA was detected at
concentrations as high as 6 µg/1 at depths between 37 feet and 90 feet bsg, in the Second
Zone, Rocky's Upper Zone, and Secondary Aquifer Zone
- Dissolved MTBE was detected in samples from P17 at concentrations as high as 150µg/l,
ethanol as high as 27µg/1 and TBA as high as 7 1 4g11 at depths between 37 feet and 114 feet
bsg, in the Second Zone, Secondary Aquifer Zone, and Pnmary Aquifer Zone
Horizontal migration of dissolved MTBE and TBA from the Flag City Chevron site to at
least the area of P 17, vertical migration of MTBE and TBA in this area has apparently been
facilitated by the design and construction of the domestic water well
The findings from the May 2000 Geoprobe soil boring investigation are as follows
Shallow ground water at depths between 15 and 20 feet bsg at the Flag City Chevron site has
been impacted by TPH-d and MTBE, a lesser degree of TPH-g and BTEX were encountered
in shallow ground water
- The highest concentration of MTBE in shallow ground water was detected in the sample
collected near the southwest fuel dispenser(P32) at the site The highest concentrations of
MTBE in soil samples were detected in the 10-foot soil samples collected near the southwest
portion of the storm drain system (P22) and the southeast fuel dispenser (P31) Lesser
concentrations of MTBE were detected at the site in soil and shallow ground water samples
collected from P 19, P20, P23, P24, P25, P26, P30 and P34
The highest concentration of TPH-g in shallow ground water was detected in the sample
from soil boring P30 near the middle-west fuel dispenser at the site, TPH-g was detected In
the 10 foot soil sample collected at P31 in the area of the southeast fuel dispenser Low to
moderate concentrations of TPH-g were detected in shallow ground water samples collected
from P22, P24, P31 and P34
- The highest concentration of TPH-d in shallow ground water was detected in the sample
collected from soil bonng P30 near the middle-west fuel dispenser island at the site, TPH-d
was detected in the 10-foot soil sample collected at P31 in the area of the southeast fuel
dispenser Low to moderate concentrations of dissolved TPH-d were detected in samples
from P18, P19, P20, P23, P24, P25, P27, P28, P31, P32, P34 and P35-
TPH-9 and TPH-d were detected in a soil sample collected at SS-1 (sidewall below the water
valve box) near the southeast fuel dispenser island at concentrations as high as 250 mg/kg
and 2,400 mg/kg, respectively
- The Geoprobe investigation results suggest that the dispenser area and possibly the southwest
Advanced GeoEmironmcntal,Inc
