AGE-NC Project No 96-0232
IPage 6of11
I5 0 MARCH MONTHLY MONITORING'AND SAMPLING EVENT
On 28 March 2000, ground water monitoring and sampling was performed at wells MW-1, MW-2,
1\4W-4,MW-5, MW-6 and MW-7, ground water samples were collected from two domestic drinking
crater wells located at 14659 Thornton Road (Rocky's Restaurant) and at 14749 Thornton Road
(Three B's Truck Plaza), ground water samples were collected from two municipal ground, watei
wells located approximately 700 feet southeast (CSA-2) and 1,700 feet southeast (CSA-1) of the
Flag City Chevron site and one grab water sample was collected in a storm drain located 10 feet east
of Flag City Chevron monitoring well MW-1 At the request of the PHS-EHD, one grab-water
sample was collected from the newly installed Rocky's Restaurant Culligan bottled water system
(RCS 1) Ground water monitoring procedures for the site were outlined in the Tvoyk Plait Addendufn
dated 28 January 1998 and'appioved by the PHS-EHD by letter dated 24 February 1998
r
' 5 1 MONITORING WELL PURGE PROCEDURES
Depths to ground watei were measured in each well from the tops of the well'casings to the nearest
0 01 foot utilizing a Solmst water level meter Giound water elevations in each monitoring \<,ell at
the site and the Three B's Truck Plaza site were calculated by subtracting tine measured depth to
ground water from the surveyed well casing elevations (Table 2) Ground water elevations were
plotted and contoured on a scaled site map (Figure 3)
Y
After water levels were measured, approximately 8 to 20 gallons of&,round water (a minimuin of
Ithree well-volumes per well) were removed from wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-4, MW-5, MW-6A,
MW-613 and MW-7 utilizing a two-stage submersible pump, ground water pumping was initiated
at the top of the water column and the purnp was slowly lowered to total depth to purge ground water
' u<ithin the entire well casing Approximately 8 gallons of ground water were removed from well
MW-613 before being pumped "dry" Temperature,`pH and conductivity were measured for
stabilization at regular purge-volume intervals from each well using a Hydac water analyzer Field,' ,
' data and logs are included with Appendix G Purged ground water was containerized in 55-gallon" i
drums and was stored on-site in an area lacking general public access
5 2 GROUND WATER SAMPLING
Following -,vell,purgmg, ground watei levels in monitoring wells MW-], 'MW-2, MW-4, MW-5,
MW-6A, MW-613 and MW-7 achieved a ininiriium,of 80 percent rechaige pi for to sample collection -
I Ground water'samples were collected from the purged wells utilizing new, disposable polyethylene
bailers and transfened into one-liter amber bottles without a preservative and into 40-11il EPA-
. approved VOA vials containing 0 5 nil 18% hydiochloric acid as a preservative Care was taken to
t ,
4 1
4dianced CeoFnNironmental Inc l
f
 r 4
i
.s
e
