23 March 2000 <br /> AGE-NC Protect No 96-0232 <br /> Page 4of8 <br /> 2 5 GROUND WATER DEPTH AND FLOW DIRECTION <br /> Review of historical depth to ground water maps published by the San Joaquin County Flood Control <br /> and Water Conservation Distnct(FCD&WCD)dating back to 1971 suggests that ground water depth <br /> near the site has fluctuated between approximately 5 and 15 feet bsg, review of regional ground <br /> water elevation maps published by the FCD&WCD suggest a south-southwest ground water flow <br /> direction <br /> Based on ground water monitoring data collected at the site since July 1996, ground water flow <br /> direction has been inferred to be flowing towards the north-northeast on five occasions, towards the <br /> west-northwest on two occasions, towards the south-southwest on two occasions and locally varying <br /> between northeast and southeast on one occasion <br /> 26 SITE STATUS SUMMARY <br /> Based on nine ground water sampling events, MTBE-impacted ground water appears to have <br /> migrated west-southwest of the site, furthermore, MTBE has been detected on six occasions in water <br /> samples collected from a domestic drinking water well (Rocky's Restaurant- 14659 Thornton Road) <br /> located approximately 100 feet west-southwest of the Flag City Chevron site, a second domestic <br /> drinking water well is located approximately 550 feet west of the site and two municipal drinking <br /> water wells are located approximately 700 feet southeast and 1,600 feet southeast of the site, <br /> respectively To protect these wells and to comply with Cleanup and Abatement Order No 5-00-700, <br /> AGE proposes to drill and install one six-inch diameter ground water extraction well with a <br /> dedicated low-flow ground water pump and initiate on-site interim remediation utilizing a "pump <br /> and treat" technology The goals of this interim remediation effort are <br /> • To inhibit migration of MTBE impacted ground water off-site, <br /> • To decrease the MTBE plume, <br /> • To provide some degree of immediate relief and protection for the endangered drinking water <br /> wells, and <br /> • To protect the beneficial use ground water supply <br /> 3.0 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Based on the RWQCB's Cleanup and Abatement Order No 5-00-700 to install and continuously <br /> operate a pump and treat system in the area of the highest ground water MTBE contamination, AGE <br /> Advanced GeoEn\iron mental,Inc <br />
