San Joaquin Street
Stockton, California 95201-0388
Re: Greyhound Terminal
Location#8969
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Infurna:
On behalf of Greyhound Lines, Inc. (Greyhound), Parsons Engineering Science, Inc.
(Parsons ES) is pleased to present the September 1996 Quarterly Status Report for the
Greyhound terminal in Stockton, California. The report provides the information specified
in Appendix A of"Tri-Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation
and Investigation of Underground Tank Sites (December 1990)". Greyhound has
reviewed and approved this report, and has assigned Parsons ES to be their designated
representative for preparation and submittal of the quarterly status reports. The enclosed
report has been completed accurately, and in accordance with applicable LUFT and Tri-
Regional requirements. Greyhound agrees with the conclusions and recommendations
outlined in this cover letter and the attached report.
As described in the report, groundwater samples were collected at the Stockton
facility on September 4, 1996, and analyzed for TPH-D (Modified EPA Method 8015) and
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX) (EPA Method 8020). BTEX and
TPH parameters were not detected in any of the groundwater samples. The sampling
event included newly installed MW-4 which was installed to provide closure of the
western extent of the limited soil plume. Based on data collected to date and on the recent
request by the San Joaquin County Department of Public Health Services, Greyhound is
currently preparing a site closure report in accordance with Appendix B of the "Tri-
Regional Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of
Underground Storage Tank Sites, Requests for Closure" (March 1, 1994). It is
Greyhound's understanding that no further monitoring or sampling will be required until
the closure report is reviewed.
PARSONS PARESSYRO I\VOLI:W P\728878\08969\08969LO2.W W6
PARSONS
PARESSYROI\VOLI:WP\728878\08969\08969LO1.W W6
