AUGUST 1994 RECEIVED <br /> QUARTERLY STATUS REPORT OCT IS 1994 <br /> GREYHOUND TERNMAL ENVIR906NT4 HgALTH <br /> STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> • Status of investigation and cleanup activities: <br /> On May 13, 1991, the entire fueling system at the facility, consisting of one <br /> 12,000-gallon diesel UST and associated piping, was removed and all fueling <br /> activities were discontinued (Appendix B, June 1992 Quarterly Status Report) <br /> A preliminary site investigation was completed by Engineering-Science, Inc <br /> (ES) in October 1991. The investigation included installation of three <br /> monitoring wells The Preliminary Site Investigation report was submitted to <br /> the Environmental Health Division of the San Joaquin County Department of <br /> Public` Health Services (EHD) and Regional Wates Quality Control Board <br /> (RWQCB) personnel on November 27, 1991 (Appendix C, June 1992 Quarterly <br /> Status Report) <br /> A groundwater monitoring program consisting of monthly observations of <br /> groundwater levels and pertinent observations of the monitoring wells, and <br /> quarterly groundwater sampling and reporting, was established by Greyhound <br /> Lines, Inc (Greyhound) in June 1992. The program was accepted by EHD in a <br /> letter dated September 29, 1992 The purpose of the groundwater monitoring <br /> program was to determine if groundwater has been impacted at the facility. <br /> Monthly groundwater monitoring reports and the June, September, and <br /> December 1992, and March and June 1993 Quarterly Status Reports were <br /> previously submitted to the EHD and RWQCB <br /> During the week of January 18, 1993, Greyhound installed additional soils <br /> borings and collected soil samples to completely define the extent of <br /> contamination at this location. The borings were installed in accordance with <br /> the Work Plan dated October 28, 1992 and approved in a telephone discussion <br /> between Mr Michael Infurna of EHD and David Nickerson of ES on <br /> December 8, 1992 Results of the supplemental soil boring program were <br /> submitter] to EHD and RWQCB in a Supplemental Site Assessment report on <br /> April 1, 1993 A meeting was held between EHD, Greyhound and ES on <br /> June 24, 1993 to discuss the results of the supplemental site assessment, cleanup <br /> levels, if any, to be applied to the site, and potential soil remediation strategies <br /> On July 22, 1993, EHD approved the replacement of the quarterly <br /> sampling/monthly monitoring program a biannual monitoring and groundwater <br /> sampling program. <br /> Based on a letter from EHD to Greyhound dated January 26, 1994 in which <br /> EHD expressed concerns that the full extent of soil contamination had not yet <br /> 0') been defined, Greyhound prepared and submitted a Supplemental Site <br /> Assessment Work Plan in June 1994 for the purpose of defining the extent of <br /> PARFSSYROBVOLI WP1725218108969108969L04 DOC <br /> 1 <br />
