' SECTION 3 <br /> PERSONNEL PROTECTION AND MONITORING <br /> 3.1 _Nledicai Surveillance <br /> Engineering-Science will utilize the services of a licensea occuvauonai health <br /> pnysician with knowieage and/or experience in the hazards a_ssociatea with the <br /> protect to vrovtde the meatcai examtnauons and surveillance specified herein. <br /> Personnel involved in this operation have undergone medical surveillance prior <br /> to employment at ES, and thereafter at 12 month intervals. The 12 month meatcai <br /> examination includes a complete medical and work history and a standard <br /> occunationai phvsical. zramination of all major organ systems, complete Mood <br /> count with differential (CBCT, and a SMAC/231 blooa chemistry screen which <br /> incluaes calcium. phosonorous. glucose, uric acid. BUN, creatinine, albumin. SGPT, <br /> _SGOT LDH, globulin -%,/G ratio. alkaline phosvnatase, total protein. iotai <br /> oiliruoin trigiycerice. :.:tolesterai. and a creatinine/BUN ratio. Additionally a <br /> ' puimonary tunction test wul be performea by trainea personnel to recora Forcea <br /> Vital Cavacity (FVC) and Forced Expiratory Volume in second (FEV, o) an <br /> audiogram and visual acuity measurement. including color perception is provided <br /> rThe mecicai exam is perforated under the direction of a licensed Occupational <br /> Health Phvstctan. A medical certification as to the fitness or unfitness for <br /> emptovment on hazaraous waste projects, or any restrictions on his/her utilization <br /> that may be indicated, is provided by the pnysician. This evaluation will be repeated <br /> as indicated by substandard performance or evidence of particular stress that is <br /> r evident by injury or time loss illness on the part of any worker. <br /> 3.2 Site Specific Training <br /> The Site Health and S.ifety Officer will be responslole for deve:oping a site <br /> 5oec:fic occuuatlonai hazaru training program and vroviding training to all ES <br /> personnel that are to wore: at the site This training will consist of the tollowing <br /> tonics <br /> Names of personnel responsiole for site safety and health. <br /> Safetv, health and other hazards at the site. <br /> ' Proper use of personal protective equipment. <br /> • WorK practices ov wnich the emplovee can minimize risk from hazards. <br /> • Safe use of engineering controls and equipment on the site <br /> • Acute effects of compounds at the site <br /> • Decontamination procedures <br /> Upon comvletion of site-specific training, ,,orkers will sign-oif on the site- <br /> specific training torm provided in Appenatx B. <br /> ' Us/5Y2?�01/0002 <br /> 3-1 <br />
