III 1
W
JUNE 1993
QUARTERLY STATUS REPORT
GREYHOUND TERMINAL
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
• Status of investigation and cleanup activities: T
On May 13, 1991, the entire fueling system at the facility, consisting of one
12,000-gallon diesel UST and associated piping, was removed and all fueling
activities were discontinued (Appendix B, June 1992 Quarterly Status Report)
A preliminary site investigation was completed by Engineenng-Science, Inc.
(FS) in October 1991 The Preliminary Site Investigation report was submitted
to the Environmental Health Division of the San Joaquin County Department of
Public Health Services (EHD) and Regional Water Quality Control Board
(RWQCB) personnel on November 27, 1991 (Appendix C, June 1992 Quarterly
Status Report)
A groundwater monitoring program consisting of monthly observations of
groundwater levels and pertinent observations of the monitoring wells, and
quarterly groundwater sampling and reporting, was established by Greyhound
Lines, Inc (GLI) in June 1992 The purpose of the groundwater monitoring
program is to determine if groundwater has been impacted at the facility.
Monthly groundwater monitoring reports and the June, September, and
December, and March Quarterly Status Reports were previously submitted to
the EHD and RWQCB The program was accepted by EHD in a letter dated
September 29, 1992.
During the week of January 18, 1993, Greyhound installed supplemental soil
bonngs and collected soil samples to completely define the extent of
contamination at this location The bonngs were installed in accordance with
the Work Plan dated October 28, 1992 and approved in a telephone discussion
between Mr. Michael Infurna of EHD and David Nickerson of ES on
December 8, 1992 Results of the supplemental soil boring program were
submitted to EHD and RWQCB in a Supplemental Site Assessment report on
April 1, 1993 A meeting was held between EHD, Greyhound and ES on
June 24, 1993 to discuss the results of the supplemental site assessment, clean
up levels to be applied to the site, and potential soil remediation strategies
• Proposed continuing or next phase of investigation:
Greyhound has proposed a modification of the groundwater monitoring and
reporting program schedule to include monitoring and sampling twice per year,
rather than four times Based on the results of five quarters of monthly
monitoring and quarterly sampling, this montonng frequency is appropriate at
this location. Based on discussions held between EHD, Greyhound, and ES on
June 24, 1993, Greyhound is currently evaluating soil remediation options.
L14USY360 2210061 REV i
1
