r <br /> ENCLOSURE <br /> The Department' s responsibilities regarding oversight <br /> of remedial activities at the MCTC site <br /> 1 . The Department of Health Services ' (DHS ' s) Site Mitigation <br /> Unit (SMU) will be responsible for oversight of investigative <br /> and remedial activites at the MCTC Site. <br /> 2 . SMU will require MCTC to conduct the remedial investigation/ <br /> feasibility study and remedial action in a manner consistent <br /> with the November 1986, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act <br /> (RCRA) Corrective Action Plan guidance manual. <br /> 3 . In the event SMU has difficulty or is unable to secure <br /> cleanup of the site, SKU will inform and consult with EPA on <br /> potential options for correcting the situation. <br /> 4 . SMU will coordinate with DHS 's Permitting Unit to ensure that <br /> closure of the surface impoundment occurs in accordance with <br /> an approved RCRA closure plan and that all required permits <br /> are issued pursuant to RCRA regulations. <br /> 5 . SMU will coordinate with DHS' s Surveillance and Enforcement <br /> Unit to ensure facility inspections are performed as required <br /> and that timely and appropriate action is taken for any <br /> significant RCRA violation. <br />
