L
ATTACHMENT 2
(CONT'D.)
MONITORING WELL DEVELOPMENT AND SAMPLING
The newly installed monitoring well will be developed a minimum of 48-hours after installation. The
development procedure will consist of surging and pumping or bailing water from the well until the water
is visibly clear, the well goes dry, or until a maximum of ten casing volumes have been removed. After
development, the water level will be allowed to recover. Groundwater samples will then be collected
using a disposable Teflon bailer, placed into appropriate United States Environmental Protection Agency
(USEPA) approved containers, labeled, placed on ice, and transported to the laboratory accompanied by
chain-of-custody documentation.
MONITORING WELL SURVEYING
A California State Licensed Surveyor will survey the newly installed monitoring well. The well casing
will be surveyed to the nearest 0.01 feet in elevation to a known benchmark.
LABORATORY PROCEDURES
Groundwater samples described above will be submitted to a California Department of Public Health
Services certified laboratory under appropriate chain-of-custody protocols and analyzed for the presence
of total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel [TPH-DRO(C 10-C28)],total petroleum hydrocarbons as motor
oil [TPH-MO (C16-C36)] by USEPA Method 8015, total petroleum hydrocarbons in the gasoline range
[TPH-G (C6-C10)], benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (13TEX), tertiary butyl alcohol
(TBA)and methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE)by USEPA Method 826013. _— -----a1'
_ SOIL CUTTINGS AND RINSATE WATER 11 Z,0 -
Soil cuttings generated during drilling operations will be temporarily stored onsite and covered with
plastic sheeting pending characterization and disposal. Soil cuttings will be removed by Chevron's
disposal contractor to an appropriate disposal facility. Water generated during steam cleaning, and
sampling of the wells will be temporarily stored in California Department of Transportation (DOT)
approved 55-gallon drums pending transport by Chevron's disposal contractor to an appropriate disposal
r- or treatment facility.
14.i i
I
I
i.t
L f
10/24/2006 Page 2 of 2
J:ID000619-0557_00261022_work Plan Revision_Attachment 2.doc
