EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
PURPOSE
The purpose of this Remedial Action Plan (RAP) is to
summarize site data gathered from the Remedial Investigation
(RI) and Feasibility Study (FS) and to identify and describe
the remedial actions proposed for the Marley Cooling Tower
Company (MCTC) Stockton, California site.
This RAP is being prepared pursuant to the requirements set
forth in the California Health and Safety Code (H&SC)
Section 25356 (a-d) which specify that a RAP shall be
prepared, approved by the Department of Health Services
(DHS) , and released to the public for review and comment
prior to undertaking final remedial action at the Site.
This RAP is not intended to contain specific engineering
design details, but rather to generally describe potential
remedial alternatives and the recommended alternatives to
government agencies and the public.
The reader is referred to the RI/FS (and other reports) for
additional site investigation and feasibility study
information. The various reports are part of the MCTC
information repository established at the Stockton City
Library located at 605 N Eldorado Street. The documents can
also be viewed at the MCTC Stockton office.
SITE DESCRIPTION
The MCTC site is located at 150 North Sinclair in Stockton,
San Joaquin County, California; see attached figure.
The site is presently an active wood fabrication and
treating facility. It is zoned for limited and general
manufacturing. The MCTC site covers an area of
approximately 30 acres. The facility is divided into two
distinct sections: The North and South Yards.
South Yard-
The South Yard is used for milling and fabrication
of untreated wood and does not generate products
or wastes containing wood treatment chemicals. In
the past, however, limited areas of the South Yard
were used for the temporary storage of treated
wood. Treated wood is no longer stored in the
South Yard and a clean-up program was performed to
remove surface contamination.
ES- 1
