The borings
were completed as groundwater monitoring wells. Each boring location was hand cleared using an
air knife tool to approximately 8 feet bgs. The shallow boreholes for monitoring wells MW-14, MW-
16, and MW-17 were advanced using 8-inch-diameter, hollow-stem augers to depths of
approximately 30 feet bgs. Upon completion of drilling, 2-inch-diameter groundwater monitoring
wells were installed in each of the boreholes with screen intervals from approximately 20 feet to 30
feet bgs. The boreholes for shallow monitoring well MW-15 and deep monitoring well MW-15D were
advanced using 10-inch-diameter, hollow-stem augers to depths of approximately 30 feet bgs and 51
feet bgs, respectively. Upon completion of drilling, 4-inch-diameter, groundwater monitoring wells
were installed in each of the boreholes with screen intervals from 20 feet to 30 feet bgs (MW-15) and
46 to 51 feet bgs (MW-15D).
During drilling activities, soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals to describe soil lithologies
encountered in each of the boreholes. In addition, selected soil samples collected from boring MW-
15D were submitted to Lancaster for chemical analysis. No soil samples were collected for
characterization or screening at MW-15 due to its proximity to MW-15D. The findings well
installation activities are summarized below. Field and laboratory procedures are included in
Attachment 2.
1:lChevron1905571REPORTS1200412004 Site Assessment. RevB.doc
