Ms. Victoria McCartney
S E C 0 R
June 11, 2004
Page 4
•
Subsurface Conditions
Soil lithologies encountered during drilling of soil borings completed for monitoring well installation
consisted predominately of sandy clay to clayey silt with minor amounts of silty sand. Clayey silt with
medium-plasticity fines was encountered in boring MW-15D from 50.5 feet to 51 feet bgs.
Groundwater was first encountered during drilling at approximately 24 feet to 25 feet bgs in each
borehole. Boring logs and well construction details are included in Attachment 5.
Soil Analytical Data
Selected soil samples were analyzed for TPHg, TPHd, TPHmo, BTEX, MtBE, EtBE, TAME, TBA,
DIPE, EDB, and 1,2-DCA. Soil analytical results and chain-of-custody documentation are presented
in the laboratory analytical report in Attachment 6 and summarized below and in Table 2.
Number of Detections Minimum Maximum
Constituents Above the MDL of the 5 Detection In mg/kg Detection In mglkg
Total Samples (Sample 1D) (Sample ID)
TPHg 2 10(MW-15D-S-25) -49iMW-t6D-&-25K A l/J 15D-S-5 9 aD-S-59
TPHd 1 43(MW-15D-S-50) }..3
15. -.S -1-9
Explanations:
• MW-15D-S-25=Boring sample 15D at 25 feet bgs
bgs=below ground surface
MDL=Method detection limits /
mg/kg=Milligrams per kilogram
Note:
TPHmo, BTEX, MtBE,TBA, ELBE, DIPE,TAME, EDB,and 1,2-DCA were reported below laboratory detection limits.
Monitoring Well Development and Sampling
On April 23, 2004, the newly-installed monitoring wells were developed and sampled by Gettler-Ryan
Incorporated (G-R) in conjunction with routine quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling. The
groundwater samples were submitted to Lancaster for chemical analysis for TPHg, TPHd, TPHmo,
BTEX, methanol, ethanol, MtBE, EtBE, TAME, TBA, DIPE, EDB, and 1,2-DCA. Preliminary
monitoring well sampling results along with chain-of-custody documentation are presented in
Attachment 7 and summarized below and in Table 3. Monitoring well sampling results will be
presented in full in the second quarter 2004 groundwater and monitoring and sampling report.
:1Chevron1905571REPORTS1200412004 Site Assessment.
