0 0
5. Soil Cuttings Characterization and Disposal
All soil cuttings will be collected in a 20-yard roll-off bin lined with visqueen. Three
grab samples of the soil cuttings will be collected from the roll-off bin in 250-milliliter
glass jars and sent to a California certified analytical laboratory to be analyzed for Title
22 California Code of Regulations (CCR) metals using inductively coupled plasma—
mass spectrometry. The analytical results will be provided to the receiving facility of the
material for disposal. Disposal will be handled by IMP Environmental.
6. Well Development
Well development will commence at least 12 hours after the placement of the annular seal at
each well. Development may consist of a combination of well surging using a surge block,
bailing and/or pumping with a small diameter submersible pump to remove mobile fines,
silts and clays. The process of surging and then bailing or pumping to remove material may
be repeated during development. One day(-8 to 10 hours)of development is scheduled for
the wells. The volume of water removed from each well during development will be
recorded.
Water quality parameters such as pH, specific conductivity, temperature, and turbidity will
be monitored during development. Development will continue until the water quality
parameters have stabilized and turbidity readings have stabilized at or below 10
nephelometric turbidity units(NTU). With respect to groundwater chemistry, an adequate
purge is achieved when the pH, specific conductivity and temperature of groundwater have
stabilized and the turbidity has either stabilized at or below 10 NTU. Ten NTU is the
maximum goal for most groundwater sampling objectives. This is twice the primary
drinking water standard of 5 NTU(USEPA Field Sampling Guidance Document#1220
Groundwater Well Sampling USEPA Region 9 Laboratory Rev.#1, Sept. 2004).
Purge water generated during the development phase will be temporarily stored in the
roll-off bin on site. Water will be pumped out of the roll-off bin to a vacuum truck. The
vacuum truck will discharge the water to the on-site treatment system.
7. Well Surveying
Following well development, the horizontal location and the vertical elevation of the top
of casing and land surface will be surveyed by Varney Land Surveys, a state certified
surveyor. The vertical elevation will be measured to within 1/100 of a foot and will be
referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NGVD29) and the North
American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88). The locations of the wells will be
surveyed to the California State Plane Coordinate System Zone 3 referenced to the North
American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). The coordinates will be recorded in feet.
Work Plan—Installation of Monitor Wells 9672
SPX Corporation 5 Dudek
Stockton,California May 2016
