S E C 0 R
2003 Feasibility Test Summary Report
S September 18, 2003
' Page 5
Groundwater samples were collected and analyzed by a California state certified laboratory for calculating
mass removal rates of chemicals dissolves{ in groundwater. Groundwater samples were analyzed for
TPHg, total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd), total petroleum hydrocarbons as motor oil
(TPHmo), BTEX, MtBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (EtBE), tertiary amyl methyl
ether (TAME), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), and ethylene dibramide (EDB).
' The TPE test results are summarized in detail below.
3.2.2 Two-Phase Extraction Test Results
' 3.2.2.1 Applied Vacuum and Vapor and Liquid Extraction Flow Rates
During TPE testing, the applied vacuum at the well was a constant 25 inches of mercury (in. Hg). Vapor
' extraction flow rates ranged from 19 to 47 actual cubic feet per minute (acfm). Entrained groundwater
extraction flow rates ranged from 1,440 to 2,232 gallons per day (gpd).
3.2.2.2 Soil Vapor Analytical Data
Maximum concentrations of detected petroleum hydrocarbons are presented in the table below.
Complete soil vapor analytical data is presented in Table 2. Laboratory analytical results and chain-of-
custody documentation for soil vapor samples is included in Appendix H.
Maximum Constituent Concentration (Well ID)
lie
TPHg Benzene Toluene Ethyl- Total
Benzene Xylenes
(mg/m') (mg/ml) (m9lma) m m'
m m)
r 22,000 410 2,900 690 2,600
MW-9S MW-9S MW-9S MW-9S MW-9S
Notes:
' MtBE not detected in vapor samples
3.2.2.3 Soil Vapor Mass Removal Results
' The total mass of TPHg, benzene, and MtBE, removed in soil vapor during TPE testing, were assessed
by totaling the calculated incremental mass removal estimates shown in Table 3. An estimated 22
pounds of TPHg and 0.5 pounds of benzene were removed from soil vapor during this test. No MtBE was
' detected or removed during the test.
3.2.2.4 Vapor Extraction Radius of Influence
' Induced vacuum responses were not noted in any observation wells during the TPE test. Therefore, a
vapor extraction radius of influence could not be calculated.
' 3.2.2.5 Extracted Groundwater Analytical Data
Maximum concentrations of detected petroleum hydrocarbons and fuel oxygenates are presented in the
' table below. Extracted groundwater analytical data is presented in Table 4. Laboratory analytical results
and chain-of-custody documentation for water samples are included in Appendix H.
0
