Prior
to station demolition activities, SECOR directed the destruction of all'on-site groundwater monitoring
wells and ozone sparge wells. Demolition activities included the removal of all aboveground and
subsurface facilities including the station building, underground storage tanks (USTs), product lines,
fuel dispensers.
The destruction of the monitoring wells, ozone sparge wells, and the removal of the USTs were
performed in accordance with SECOR's Work Plan for Well Destruction and UST Removal, dated
December 9, 2002. The work plan was verbally approved by Ms. Margaret Lagorio of the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) in a telephone conversation with
William Brasher of SECOR on December 16, 2002. .
SITE DESCRIPTION
The site is located at 139 South Center Street in Stockton, California (Figure 1). Former station
facilities included two pump islands under a common canopy, three double-walled steel underground
storage tanks (USTs), one double-walled steel used-oil UST, and a station building. Locations of
former station facilities are shown on Figure 2. The area surrounding the site consists of primarily
commercial land uses. Topography in the area of the site is relatively flat, and is approximately 12
feet above mean sea level (msl). The nearest surface water bodies are the Mormon Slough located
approximately 1/4-mile south of the site, the Yacht Harbor located approximately 114-mile north of
the site, and the Port of Stockton located approximately one mile west of the site.
STATION DEMOLITION ACTIVITIES
Between January 6 and February 24, 2003, SECOR destroyed nine-monitoring wells and four ozone
sparge well pairs, and supervised the removal of two dispenser islands, associated product lines,
three double-walled steel gasoline LISTS, and one double-walled steel used-oil UST. This section
• describes these activities.
lAChevron1905571REP0RT5\9-0557 station Demo&Well Destruction Report-REVB.doc
