' Elks Lodge Property 1JeYty 0 Page 2
317 South Center Street
Stockton, California August 9, 2001
Three (3) soil samples from each boring were collected at 1.5', 2.5', and 3.5'. The three
(3) samples from each boring were composited into a single sample for laboratory
analysis.
3.1 Drilling
The soil borings were accomplished using a hand auger. All p
u
eqi ment was
thoroughly cleaned before digging began, to prevent the introduction of
contamination from off site, and between borings to prevent cross contamination.
' 3.2 Soil Sampling
All soil sampling equipment was thoroughly cleaned before and between
sampling to prevent cross contamination. Relatively undisturbed soil samples
were taken between at 1.5', 2.5', and 3.5' in order to evaluate the subsurface
' materials.
The soil samples were taken using a Drive Shoe Spoon sampler with a brass liner.
' The sampler was driven continuously by a hand driver. The laboratory samples
did not have head space and were immediately sealed in their liners using Teflon
lined plastic caps. The samples were labeled and placed in an ice chest cooled
' with Blue Ice®. They were then delivered to the State-certified laboratory, Geo-
Analytical Laboratories, Inc., in Modesto, California.
' Soil samples collected were analyzed using EPA method 6010B for Lead and
samples from HB-3 and HB-9 were further analyzed for soluable total lead
' content using EPA method STLC6010B. The soils at the locations of sampling
were all sandy silts, dense, and dry from 0 to 2.0 feet. From 2.0 to 3.5' the soil
was clay and moist. Chain of Custody records were maintained at all times
(Appendix A).
3.3 Analytical Results
The soil samples collected at HB-1 and HB-2 indicate, after laboratory analysis,
' that significant lead contamination exists in the soil. Table 1 below summarizes
the levels present in each soil sample. Laboratory Certificates of Analysis and
' Chain of Custody are found in Appendix A of this report.
t
