0 0 <br /> 5.0 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT <br /> Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required for protection of Site <br /> personnel during the implementation of specific tasks. Given the nature of the field <br /> activities, it is anticipated that USEPA Level D (or Level D modified) protection will be <br /> adequate for field investigation activities. <br /> 5.1 Levels of PPE <br /> 5.1.1 Level D <br /> Level D equipment shall include: <br /> • Boots or work shoes (with steel toe and shank); <br /> • Hard hat; <br /> • Approved eye protection, by the American National Standards Institute <br /> (ANSI), [Title 8 CCR 3382]; <br /> • Gloves (leather or cloth if high direct contact potential does not exist); and, <br /> • Ear plugs or muffs, if necessary. <br /> 5.1.2 Modified Level D <br /> The modified Level D equipment shall include: <br /> • Boots with steel toe and shank (neoprene, if high direct contact potential <br /> exists); <br /> • Protective gloves (nitrile); <br /> • Protective gloves (leather permissible, if high direct contact potential does <br /> not exist); <br /> • Coveralls (hooded, long-sleeved Tyvek); <br /> • Hard hat; <br /> • Approved eye protection, by the American National Standards Institute <br /> (ANSI), [8 CCR 33821; and, <br /> • NIOSH/OSHA approved dust mask. <br /> • Ear plugs or muffs <br /> ENV,•.. 15 February 2005 <br /> A R E R !
