' 20 March 2015
AGE Project No. 00-0769
' 4.0. OZONE INJECTION PILOT TEST
On 11 November 2013, ozone injection was initiated at the site using a Mako 10-point
t ozone injection system capable of generating and discharging 3.0 pounds per day of
ozone at a maximum pressure of 100 pounds per square inch (psi), maximum injection
flow of 40 liters per minute (Ipm) and maximum breakthrough flow of 8 standard cubic
' feet per minute (scfm). The ozone system was programmed to inject ozone into each of
the eight ozone wells (OZ-1 through OZ-8) for approximately 30 minute intervals; ozone
was injected into one well at a time. The Mako Industries 3-pound ozone injection
' system model specifications are presented in Appendix G.
Between 11 November 2014 and 05 February 2014, the ozone injection system
' operated sporadically; during this time, the system was operational for approximately
871 hours or only 36 days due to multiple operational difficulties, system malfunctions
and subsequent repairs.
' Between 05 February and 21 March 2014, repairs were attempted on the ozone
infection system; however, on-site repairs could not restore the system; and on
' 24 March 2014, the ozone injection system was removed from the site and sent back to
the manufacturer for repairs and servicing.
' On 04 April 2014, a replacement ozone injection system was delivered to the site and
connected to the ozone wells on 11 April 2015. However, before the ozone injection
pilot test could be re-initiated, it was determined that the replacement system had a
' faulty boost air compressor and could not be operated.
On 24 April 2014, the replacement ozone injection system was removed from the site
' and exchanged with the original ozone system after it had been repaired and serviced
by the manufacturer.
tOn 02 May 2014, the ozone injection pilot test was re-initiated. Between 02 May and
02 October 2015, the ozone injection system operated nearly continuously with minor
' shut downs; during this time, the ozone injection system operated for approximately
3,522 hours (approximately 147 days). The majority of the operational duration (80%) of
the ozone infection pilot test was performed during this time period.
' The ozone injection system operated a total of approximately 4,393 hours or 183 days
during the pilot test; and ozone injection was distributed nearly equally between OZ-1
' through OZ-8 during the pilot test (Table 6).
During the ozone injection pilot test, total injection pressures ranged between 19 and 28
' psi; injection flow rates ranged between 18 and 40 Ipm and between 0.8 and 1.3 scfm.
Additional information and detailed ozone injection operational parameters and run
times are presented in Table 6.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc.
