09 January 2017 • •
AGE Project No. 00-0769
Page 3 of 9
2.0. SCOPE OF WORK
Based on the analytical results of groundwater samples collected from off-site borings
CPT-4, CPT-13, CPT-15, and CPT-17 (Table 2), the CVRWQCB has directed the
preparation of a work plan proposing the collection of a sufficient number of groundwater
samples to delineate groundwater pollution laterally and vertically to the north, northeast,
east, and southeast of the site. Additionally, the CVRWQCB directed installation and
sampling of permanent soil-vapor wells near on-site structures. The scope of work will
include the following tasks:
• Permitting and pre-field work activities;
• Advancement of off-site soil borings for collection of groundwater samples;
• Advancement of soil borings for installation of soil-vapor wells and collection of
soil-vapor samples
• Laboratory analysis of soil-vapor and grab groundwater samples;
• Soil boring abandonment; and
• Report preparation.
2.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK PREPARATIONS
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (EHD); encroachment permits will be obtained from
the City of Stockton Public Works Department; and AGE will attempt to secure access
agreements from private property owners where borings are proposed or could potentially
be advanced to reduce City permitting and fees. In addition, a site specific health and
safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance
Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
1985). Prior to mobilization, each soil boring will be clearly marked and a utility clearance
obtained through Underground Service Alert. The EHD will be contacted at least 72 hours
prior to conducting any field work.
2.2. DRILLING AND GROUNDWATER SAMPLE ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance four (4) off-site soil borings to depths ranging between
approximately 145 feet bsg and 165 feet bsg for collection of grab groundwater samples
at various selected depth intervals between 50 feet bsg and 165 feet bsg. Soil borings will
be advanced using a truck-mounted CME-95 drill rig equipped with either 6.25-inch or
8.25-inch hollow-stem augers or potentially direct push capability for shallow soil borings.
The total depth of each boring may vary according to geologic/hydrogeologic conditions
Advanced GeoEnvironmen[al Inc.
