June 22 , 1999
Mr. Michael Infurna
San Joaquin County
Environmental Hea11
P. O. Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Report of Findings - Phase 2 Site Investigation, 1201 S. Center Street
Stockton, CA Site Code : 505309
Owner: Roger Huckins
3501 Oak Grove Circle
Stockton, CA 95209
Dear Mr. Infurna,
Please find below the partial report of findings for the work completed to date under the Work
Plan dated 9/28/1998 and modified 10/ 19/1998 for the subsurface investigation of the above
property owned by Mr. Huckins. Due to the lack of funds, monitoring wells MW4A and M W4B
have not been installed.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
History
Three underground tanks were removed from the above stated site by Jim Thorpe Oil on 10/26/94.
At that time, ten soil samples were taken from the excavation spoil, the underground tank
excavation, and the product piping area and analyzed by GeoAnalytical Labs. The samples from
all three tanks showed evidence of gasoline contamination. The sample from the west end of tank
number three (See attached analysis) was the most contaminated. After samples were taken, the
excavations were backfilled to finish grade.
Under Work Plan 1 for the site, a hollow stem auger soil boring (PB 1) was placed in the general
area of Tank #one and Tank #2 to a depth of thirty feet on 4/28/98 . Samples were taken at depths
of 8', 14', 25 ' and 30' and each was analyzed for BTEX, TPHg, and MTBE. All samples were
contaminated with high levels of gasoline (see attached -Recap of Chemical Analysis). A hollow
stem auger soil boring was also placed in the area of Tank #three to a depth of fifty feet. Samples
were extracted at five foot intervals and all were analyzed for BTEX, TPHg, and MTBE . All
samples were found to be contaminated with gasoline. MTBE was not found in any of the samples
I
