r
d
11 January 2007
AGE-NC Project No. 00-0769
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Method 8015 Modified; and
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) and the fuel additives methyl
tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE),
tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), 1 ,2-dibromoethane (EDB),
1 ,2-dichloroethane ( 1 ,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA Method 826013.
Laboratory reports for soil sample analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality
control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report
with the findings and recommendations. The soil pilot boring locations are illustrated in Figure 2.
The scope of work for the installation of the well network includes the following:
• Installation of three, 4-inch diameter ground water extraction wells, completed to extract
ground water from HU- 1 for interim remediation of the core contamination areas
(approximately 50 feet total depth) .
• Installation of one, 4-inch diameter ground water extraction well, completed to extract
ground water from HU-2 for interim remediation of the core contamination area
(approximately 120 feet total depth) .
Following installation, the well will be developed to maximize water flow into the well and
minimize the amount of fine-grained sediment drawn into the well during pumping or bailing.
Procedures for well installation and development are presented in Sections 3 . 1 . and 3 .2 ,
respectively.
2.3 . INSTALLATION OF REMEDIATION PIPING SYSTEM
One-inch diameter, schedule 80 PVC piping (process piping) will be installed below ground and
maybe installed adjacent to soil vapor extraction piping. The belowground piping will be installed
in trenches approximately 1 '/2-feet deep and 1 -foot wide. The piping will be routed from each ground
water extraction well head to the ground water treatment system; 1/4-inch diameter, schedule 80 PVC
electrical conduit will be installed in the same areas as the one-inch diameter, schedule 80 PVC
piping and routed from each well head to an electrical control panel with integrated fuses . Following
piping placement the trenches will be backfilled with imported road-base sand, capped with native
soil, compacted and covered with concrete or asphalt. A plan view drawing of the piping network
is depicted in Figure 2 .
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
