l
O
4 SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATYONS
Groundwater-monitoring has been conducted at this facility since 1999 to evaluate
groundwater quality. A summary of the current site conditions and a
recommendation for subsequent work are as follows:
• During this event, the average depth to groundwater in the wells was 28.44
feet bgs (-18.68 feet msl), which indicates an approximate 1.68 foot decrease
in elevation from the previous event. The groundwater flow was generally
easterly at a gradient of about 0.004 feet per linear foot.
• Ethylbenzene,xylenes,and TPH-g were detected in well MW-2.
• Any reported BTEX and MTBE concentrations were compared to the
California Drinking Water MCLS. Based on the current groundwater-
monitoring data, none of the MCLS have been exceeded in any of the wells.
• BTEX, TPH-g, and oxygenates were not detected in the samples collected
from wells MW-1, MW-3,or MW-4.
• The SVE system was malfunctioning upon the weekly site visit on August 31,
2005. The system was repaired and re-engaged on September 28, 2005.
Weekly air samples were collected throughout the rest of this quarter without
any further system malfunctions.
• The SVE system was disengaged after collecting the December 13 2005
weekly samples per a verbal approval by SJCFNM on No',Vernber 30, 2005.
' • The current total mass of TPH-g removed from the soil is estimated at 190
pounds, which is approximately 56% of the initial estimated contaminate
amount. The overall mean average influent rate of TPH-g was 3.17 lbs/day,
while the average emission rate after tr=eatment was 0.12 lbs/day. Therefore,
the VOC removal efficiency was approximately 96%.
Based on the results of this quarterly sampling event,it appeared that the SVE system
could be disengaged and the activities for Site closure could be implemented. PSC
and ETIC recommended that a current quarterly groundwater-monitoring plan
continue as is for four more quarters ending with the fourth quarter of 2006. PSC and
ETIC discussed the closure activities with SJCEHD on November 10, 2005 and again
on November 30, 2005. The closure activities to be implemented with SJCEHD
approval will be discussed in subsequent quarterly reports.
ti
QuartrAy Groundwater Monitoring Report
4th Quarter-November 2005
Prepared for:SARA LEE BAxERY GrRoup,YNc.
