PUBLIC HEALTH SERNqCES
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION N
Ernest M. Fujimoto, M. Center St.
Stockton, CA 95206
In previous written correspondence and phone conversations, San Joaquin County Public Health
Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD), has advised that as a result of an unauthorized
release from the underground tanks (UGT) formerly located at this location, a subsurface investigation is
required at this site.
PHS-EHD has allowed adequate time for the multiple responsible parties for this site to come to an
equitable arrangement and submit a work plan that will investigate the limits of soil contamination and
whether or not the groundwater has been impacted.
In order to determine if this site poses a threat to the groundwater, evaluate the post-UGT removal
conditions, and assess the site, a work plan that conforms to the requirements listed in the Tri-Regional
Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Tank Sites, 10
August 1990, shall be submitted to PHS-EHD by August 1, 1997.
UGT sites must be in compliance with directives issued by PHS-EHD in order to become eligible and
receive reimbursement from the Clean Up Fund. PHS-EHD recommends that a mutual agreement be
established between the three parties identified as owners/operators of the UGT and owner of the
property that will allow for continual cooperation in investigating this site. Enforcement actions issued by
PHS-EHD may place the site in jeopardy of becoming or remaining eligible for reimbursement of
investigative costs required under current California Underground Tank Regulations.
Please direct your submittals to Michael Infurna, Senior RENS, and you may call me at(209)468-3454
should you wish to discuss the site.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Michael Infurna Jr., Senior REHS Margar agorio, REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
MI/
c: Wm Whitman, c/o Frank Woodward, PO Box 502, Stockton, CA. 95201
c: Gregerson &Assoc., Jerry Gregerson, 1308 W.
