Weber Ave., Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95201
RE: 1717 S. Center Street, Stockton, CA 95206
Site Code: 2371
Dear Mr. Inforna:
Pursuant to your March 25, 1997 telephone conversation with Mr. Mark Milward Of Philip
Environmental regarding the underground storage tank ("UST") removal at 1717 S. Center St.
(the "Site"), I am responding to your November 18, 1996 correspondence. Apparently, we
misunderstood your letter as it relates to further site investigation work requested at the Site.
As Mr. Milward may have informed you, Earthgrains has been communicating with the current
owner of the Site regarding the issue of responsibility for further corrective action, including
additional site characterization work. Earthgrains received an invoice from the State Water
Resources Control Board in the amount of$359.00 for "Oversight Costs" at the Site. In the
interest of cooperating with the State and San Joaquin County, and furthering a resolution of
this matter with the current owner of the Site, Earthgrains is paying the invoice for Oversight
Costs. Please see the attached transmittai letter to the State Water Resources Control Board.
This letter and the payment of such invoice for Oversight Costs shall not constitute nor be
construed as an admission of any liability whatsoever to the current owner, State of California
or the San Joaquin Public Health Service relating to this Site.
I will notify you as soon as Earthgrains completes its review of this matter and makes a
determination of responsibility for further environmental investigation work at the Site. Don't
hesitate to contact me at (314) 259-7073 if you have any questions. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Maria T. Lanctot
Director, Environmental Management
/ r BIMBO
