Page 5 <br /> Mr Michael Infurna Jr,Senior REHS <br /> September 24,2001 <br /> Probeholes P 1>5 <br /> PSC proposes to drive three probeholes (PH-4 through PH-�) around the <br /> perimeter of the former UST to delineate the lateral extent of petroleum-impacted <br /> soil (see Figure 4) These probeholes will be driven with Geoprobe equipment <br /> down to a depth of 50 feet Subsurface soils will be continuously cored using 4- <br /> feet long Macro-Core samplers Continuous coring will characterize stratigraphic <br /> relationships and indicate depth to the groundwater-bearing unit <br /> Upon retrieval, soil cores will be logged by PSC's geologist and screened for <br /> volatile organic vapors with a photoionization detector (PID) Portions of the soil <br /> cores will be selected for laboratory analysis Selections will be based on the <br /> geologist's observations and PID screenings in an attempt to assess the extent of <br /> petroleum impact At a mimmum, at least three soil samples from each probehole <br /> will be selected for analysis at the following depths 15 feet, at the vadose <br /> zone/groundwater zone interface (or at 25 feet if not readily detectable), and at 50 <br /> feet <br /> r <br /> Soil samples will be placed in laboratory-provided containers, sealed, labeled, and �� �yu) <br /> stored in an iced chest for chain-of-custody delivery to Acculabs laboratory in <br /> Davis, California Soil samples will be analyzed for BTEX, TPHg and oxygenate <br /> compounds -7 7 <br /> ,9 <br /> PSC proposes to drive three probehole (PH-6•through PH-8) east of the former <br /> UST to delineate the lateral and downgradient extent of petroleum-impacted <br />' groundwater PH-6 will be placed on the east side of South Center Street <br /> (northeast of the former UST), PH-7 will be placed on the west side of South <br /> Center Street (southeast of the former UST), and PH-8 will be placed on the west <br /> side of El Dorado Street (southeast of the former UST) <br /> Probeholes PH-6 through PH-8 will be driven to a depth about 5 feet below the <br /> top of the groundwater table Soil samples will be collected every 5 feet for <br /> lithologic description and PID screening Laboratory testing of soil samples from <br /> these probeholes is not proposed <br /> Groundwater samples from PH-6 through PH-8 will be collected through the <br /> p g g <br /> Geoprobe rod string using clean plastic tubing equipped with a check valve <br /> Samples will be placed in laboratory-provided containers, sealed, labeled and <br /> stored in an iced chest for delivery to Acculabs Groundwater samples will be <br /> analyzed for BTEX, TPHg and oxygenate compounds <br />
