Page b <br /> } Mr Michael Infurna Jr, Sen tor REHS <br /> September 24,2001 <br /> 1 PSC will obtain access permits from the City of Stockton and well permits from <br /> the County prior to performing field work Upon completion, each probehole will <br /> be properly abandoned by filling it with a cement/bentonite mix grout <br />' Groundwater Monitoring Well <br /> PSC proposes to drill and install one permanent groundwater monitoring well <br /> (MW-4) on the east side of Center Street, southeast of former UST at a /1 <br /> hydraulically downgradient location The boring will be drilled with a hollow- t� <br /> stem auger ng to a depth of about 10 feet below the groundwater table Soil <br /> samples will be collected every 5 feet for lithologic description and PID <br /> screening Soil samples will not be collected for laboratory analysis unless the qb 'r°4 <br /> geologist's observations or PID screening indicates that they are potentially l <br /> impacted with petroleum hydrocarbons I`t <br /> The monitoring well will be constructed with 15 feet of slotted, schedule 40, PVC <br /> well screen, set 10 feet below the water table and 5 feet above The remainder of <br /> the well will consist of blank PVC riser set flush to the ground surface, where it <br /> will be capped and protected with a traffic-rated steel cover Annular space will <br /> consist of a sand pack placed from the bottom of the well to about 3 feet above <br /> the slotted screen, about 3 feet of bentonite pellets placed above the sand pack, <br /> and cement/bentomte grout above the bentonite seal to the ground surface <br /> The monitoring well will be properly developed by pumping or surge-blocking to <br /> consolidate the sand pack, remove fine-grained material, and open flow channels <br /> into the well Drill cuttings and development water will be placed into 55-gallon <br /> drums, which will be sealed and stored temporarily onsite pending proper <br /> disposal <br /> At least one week following well development, groundwater from MW-4 and all <br /> of the pre-existing site wells will be sampled Samples will be submitted to <br /> Acculabs for BTEX, TPHg and oxygenate compound analysis <br /> Groundwater Sparge and Soil Vapor Extraction Wells <br /> PSC proposes to install one groundwater sparge well and one soil vapor extraction <br /> well to prepare for future remedial activities at this site and to limit future drill rig <br /> mobilizations Sparge well SP-1 will be hollow-stem auger drilled to a depth of <br /> about 50 feet The well will consist of about 47 feet of 3/4-inch diameter PVC <br /> casing attached to a 3-feet long, 2 5-inch diameter ceramic air diffuser located at <br />
