PHILIP J <br />' <br /> Emma <br /> Industrial Services Group p it . k e 2t,,,i998 <br /> Midwest Region -Project I. 138 g/12,5982 <br /> Mr Michael Inform Jr , Senior REHS <br />' San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division <br /> LOP/Site Mitigation Unit <br /> 304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor <br /> Stockton, California 95202 <br />' Dear Mr Infurna <br /> Subject: Preliminary Subsurface Site Investigation Results and <br />' Product Piping Abandonment Completion <br /> 1717 South Center Street <br /> Stockton, California <br />' As you requested, Philip Services Corporation (Philip), on behalf of the Earthgrains <br /> Company (Earthgrains),performed a preliminary subsurface investigation and <br />' abandoned product piping from a former gasoline underground storage tank (UST) at <br /> the subject site This work was performed in general accordance with our August 7, <br /> 1997 Preliminary Site Investigation Workplan and our October 2, 1997 Health and <br /> Safety Plan Information concerning historic site activities, investigation results, and <br /> piping abandonment procedures is contained herein <br /> Site Location <br /> The site is located at 1717 South Center Street, on the northwest corner of South Center <br /> Street and Third Street in Stockton, California (see Figure 1, Vicinity Map) This <br /> property was operated by Kilpatrick's Bakeries, Inc , up to 1988, as a bakery products <br /> Lstorage depot It is currently leased out as an auto body repair shop by the current <br /> property owner, Mr Jerry Gregersen of Stockton <br /> The property comprises approximately 9,000 square feet of area, including an <br /> approximately 4,000 square feet, sheet metal-constructed building built on a slab-on- <br /> grade spread footing There is no known basement structure associated with this <br /> building The majority of the site and the area around the former UST are paved with <br /> asphalt or concrete The thickness of the concrete pad within the building is 9 inches <br />' Otherro erties in the vicinity comprise a mix of commercial and residential <br /> P P P <br /> properties Edison High School is situated about 3 blocks to the north An existing San <br /> Joaquin County leaking UST case site, an operating gasoline station, is located about 1 <br /> 4 <br /> PHILIP ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES CORPORATION <br /> 210 West Sand Rank Road-PO Box 230•Columbia, IL 62236-0230 <br /> (618)281-7173 a(800)733-7173 a Fax(618)281-5120 <br />
